Which SEC venues are you most looking forward to experiencing?

I see it as a big upgrade for visiting destinations for Sooner fans at away games. For various reasons I’m already sold on 50% of the away destinations!


I fully expect to attend games in the following cities…
Fayetteville (Proximity to my home)
Lexington (Like us in football. Big loud crowds true Blue bloods)
Gainesville (Lots to do down in Fla)
Columbia Mo (I live in Mo)
Baton Rouge (Di gaught de family down der)
Nashville (Because it’s Nashville)
College Station (Near my HTown area fam)


I’m going to have to perform some research to sell myself on what I can expect during a visit to Knoxville, Columbia SC, Auburn, Athens, Starkville, Oxford, or Tuscaloosa.
Any advice from people which have attended these venues?
 
Lexington, which made me think about KU and winning there perhaps the last time for a very long time.

I was at our last win in Lawrence while I was in high school, and over the years since, have been to all our games there except this year (covid). With each loss, I became more certain I wouldn’t live long enough to see us win there again. The SEC move makes that increasingly likely ... though it also saves us many potential losses lol.

The OP poses a good question. I hadn’t thought much about the basketball venues in the SEC, but this will start my down that path.

Off topic, was the 2006 game in Lawrence officiated as badly as I remember, or is it just my OU bias? I tell people it was the worst officiated hoops game I had ever seen, but figure it would be best to get some feedback from someone who was actually at the game.

On topic, I live a little north of Charlotte, NC, so I will definitely go to games in Columbia, SC (like I did in the 2019 NCAA Tournament), Athens, GA and Knoxville, TN. I'll use the Vandy game as an excuse to finally make my way out to Nashville (about 6 hours away) as well.
 
SEC basketball isn’t great outside of Kentucky. However, road trips as a fan are much better in the SEC than the Big12.

For basketball reason: Kentucky, Florida, Arkansas.

As a tourist/fan: LSU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Georgia.
 
being in KC, I'm going to miss the b12 here...that's about all I got to see. Went to 1 game in Lawrence, the Kevin Bookout/Taj Grey 12 point lead at halftime game...

I suppose I'd try to make it to missouri but man, the last football game I went to there they were total a$$holes, I can just imagine with bball...guessing the "antlers" have tamed down a bit.

Got a buddy who's a big mu guy. We were talking the whole sec thing, mainly about fball but he sure mentioned that OU/ut "controlling" the b12 was the reason mu got out.

*I'd rather save my money and come to Norman for games...
 
I cannot wait to make it to a game at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville. Although my seven-year-old self still gets the cold shakes at the mere mention of "Mister" Jennings.

Ya know, I think I have PTSD from the collapse down the stretch in that game. I actually don’t remember an abnormal number of bad calls (beyond what always happens in Lawrence). One vivid memory: I was too nervous and uncomfortable to stay in my seat, so I paced and ended up watching the last few possessions from the tunnel leading from the court to the OU locker room. As the team walked off the court, there was a trash can by the tunnel. Kelvin kicked the crap out of that thing on his way by, and I wished I could have done the same without being escorted away in handcuffs lol.

Self still refers to it as one of the biggest wins they’ve had, because they were young and struggling that season. Last year during the shutdown, KU had a series on their website where Self would break down segments of old games, and that was one. Dude has a photographic memory and even though he hadn’t seen that game tape in years, he remembered almost every play before it happened. It was fascinating and painful to see him analyze plays. To his credit, he did acknowledge a play or two where they got a friendly whistle.
 
As a Sooner who has lived most of my life in Nashville (now outside Atlanta), I'm looking forward to seeing OU play in Memorial Gymnasium against Vanderbilt...Such a neat, historic arena.

Pumped about the game at Auburn this January. Only 70 miles from my house!

I went to the OU game in Tuscaloosa a few years back...got to see Toby Rowland and actually met Trae Young and his family. I just want to make trips for football and basketball and go to every SEC venue to see OU play!
