It looks like we just lost Whitney, another knee injury

Hope she is able to return. She injured the knee on either the jump stop, or on the jump to the basket.

I'm hopeful, but the way Whitney went down and was sobbing I think she knew what it was. She's been there before. I'm praying for that kid, she's had enough bad breaks with injuries and deserves to play her senior year.

Had to watch the game on TV tonight as I am still recovering from surgery. Sorry I did.

It may just be my imagination, but I thought I heard the pop as she pushed off her feet for the jump shot, only to have that sound silenced by two immediate screams -- one as she jumped and one as she came down.

Then watching her writh on the floor, there was no doubt in my mind she is done playing competively at OU and maybe forever since it was the same knee as before (I think).

Then the TV cut to Sherri back on the bench as she looked like she had been gut shot or told one of her own kids had been shot or something. It broke my heart for the whole squad, but particulary for Whitney.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. I feel horrible and I'm just a fan.

OU confirms Hand out with torn ACL. This injury stuff has just worn me the heck out.

Well, thanks for the confirmation, I was praying for a sprain. Man, I feel like we just fell into a black hole. I am glad the team gets 9 days off, and hopefully they can regroup and re-focus. I just hurt for Whitney. What a great ambassador for the University, and just incredible young woman. I will greatly miss her leadership on the floor.

Whit was a coach on the floor - hope the team can adjust - and God bless Whitney Hand.

This picture I took from last year's game at Lawrence says all I need to know about her. Hands in her face. Girl in her face. Looking for a way to get the edge. Her and #13 were attached at the hip for 40 minutes. I don't know if I've ever seen anyone work as hard on the floor as Whitney did that night. She didn't have a breather the entire time. That's what i'll always remember about her - the way she fought and left everything on the court. If you beat her it wasn't because she wasn't giving 100%. i know it sounds cliche but that's how I feel.

Good basketball player, but even a better human being. Someone like you should not have to go out like this Whitney.
