Why didn't Newell play?

Wondered the same thing when I was at the game watching OU get destroyed.

Because he's a turnover machine.

Agreed. And Blair wasn't our biggest problem today. Rebounding, defense, and coaching were all poor.

CJ Washington has to play more IMO for us to have a chance inside.

Yes, Blair played pretty well. No other guard can create a shot for themself. Defense was terrible, there was no desire today. They are going to get out rebounded every game, we already knew this, but the D has to get better. You can't give up easy dunks and breakaway layups because of no hustle.

CJ needs to play more and Nick needs to not play. I don't like saying things like that about kids but aside from a 3 pointer, he did nothing else positive while on the floor today. I wouldn't have minded seeing Neal come in to try to guard Walkup. Maybe Neal should start getting Thompsons minutes. Other than that I don't have any problem with the rotation today. We just don't have the Talent or depth to be very competitive this year.

I'm glad you brought up rebounding. Cade led the team with 6, Fitz had 5, C.J. had 3 in limited minutes. The rest of the team had four. That's 4 between them, for a grand total of 18.

Cudos to Cade for busting his arse to go after loose balls and rebounds. But this team can't compete against any team in the Big 12 with four freaking guards on the floor!

Blair had as many points as turnovers 4. Not good!!

Capel's substitution patterns are beyond pathetic. Every game is an adventure.

Who is he going to sub in??? CJ Washington is the only player on the bench worth anything right now. Some bad players have to play a little because we don't have any other option.

calvin had his calf wrapped. i'm guessing that zero minutes had to do with that.

How about giving Neal some significant time to see what he can do? He must really be terrible in practice to not get any minutes. When you watch Pledger, Thompson, Clark and others play horribly and he still can't find a few minutes you have to ask yourself why!!

I agree.... May as well play the kid.

Yeah, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Thompson sub in for Clark around the 8 minute mark? And that was the last we saw of Cam until the second half. All Thompson did was hit a 3. Other than that he played some of the worst matador defense I've ever seen, and turned it over a couple of times. I know Cam wasn't having the best game, but how do you leave one of your best players on the bench that long?

I don't get why we don't just start playing all of our roster. Why not play Newell at the 2? He seems to make a jump shot once in a while. I don't understand any thing from our substitution pattens and why people play and others don't like Neal except when there's foul trouble.

these players are never going to develop if they are not given the chance. capel needs to become consistent with his rotation and let these kids learn and develop. this is no doubt a rebuilding year so let the players play and see what you have after the season is done. how is a player gonna be ready if they play 12 minutes in game 1 then don't see the court again until game 8. that kills the confidence in a kid.

Clark had just picked up his second foul, Capel protected him so he would be available in the second half.

CJ Washington is 6'4'' and thats why he cant play a lot or be effective against Big 12 competition.

And as we saw today, he's not quick enough to guard anyone. It was comical watching that spare Walkup blow by him and dunk.
