it is still perplexing to me that Blake Griffin (and Taylor) were here just last season. they set an example then and i would have thought for the future in what it means to work hard and then get rewarded.
i mean how complicated is Blake Griffin's story?
Year 1 - came to OU in already great shape. was asked to play D, rebound and add some offense around the paint. only a freshman, could have gone pro and been drafted late lottery to 25. sacrificed for the team.
Offseason - worked on offense, ballhandling. offseason training program is pretty much legendary.
Year 2 - his hard work paid off when he dominated EVERY single team, won the WOODEN award and was drafted #1. sacrificed for the team and was a leader on the court off the court and had a plethora of media love-fests geared at him (hint: helps your exposure and draft stock!).
now not everyone is going to win the Wooden and be drafted #1.
when WW said he was coming back, it was to more-or-less be BG2. become a top 5 pick, work on his game and be a leader for incoming class...and the conference. the exact opposite happened. im not saying HE is the entire reason why he failed (injuries, if TMG was indeed that cancerous, chemistry, bad luck, etc.).
i hope he comes back simply b/c we need the help. if TMG being gone allows WW to "flourish" then fine, but i sure hope that's not the excuse.
