He has been assigned to the Bakersfield Jam.

The Los Angeles Clippers today announced that they have assigned rookie guard Willie Warren to the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League.

Warren, 21, has appeared in 14 games with the Clippers this season and is averaging 2.2 points and 1.4 assists in 7.8 minutes per game.

The former Oklahoma University standout was selected by the Clippers in the second round (54th overall pick) of the 2010 NBA Draft.

hopefully he can further develop his game down there and earn himself a solid NBA career.

He needs the playing time to show other teams that he's worth something so he'll get looks when his contract is up with the Clippers. I'm sure the travel will suck but the 30+ minutes a night will have to be nice.

wouldn't be surprised if it's a move to sign a shooting guard to a ten-day contract.

Been pleasently suprised with the way that Willie has played during his opportunities this season in the league. I think he will find a niche and stay around.

Del Negro hasn't been happy with him at all lately.

I hope he finds a way to stick in the league. He has the talent.

Which is hard to understand. Have you seen how dumb/selfish their guards are???

Yes, and it's pretty telling that he's getting sent to the D-League despite injuries and Rasual Butler playing so terribly. Word is his attitude hasn't been great.

What has he not been me first enough for the clips?

:clap:clap:clap

Sounds like he fits right in with the rest of their guards, if that is his issue.

All I know is he looks REALLY smooth every time he gets into the game. Looks like he REALLY tries to run their stuff and attempts to get his teammates involved (which is REALLY different from most of the rest of their guards)...

And with Eric Gordon out too... you would think they would need him now. Not good for WW.

he is a pure PG in the NBA and they have davis as the starter and bledsoe as the back up plus foye as a combo guard with butler in the mix at the 2 also ..

and please someone show me any link that says del negro is not happy with WW

Here's LA Times' beat writer Lisa Dillman's tweet announcing it...

She was interviewed this morning and all but said his attitude has been sour lately. This is the first time the Clippers have ever assigned a player to the D-League, and they will only have 10 players in uniform during this road trip unless Gordon gets back. Hard not to read between the lines.

Obviously have no idea about what happens at practice, but I can see why Warren could be upset by his lack of playing time. Bledsoe was solid at the beginning of the year, but he has been erratic in the past 2 months and Butler is in a horrible slump. Guessing Warren thinks he deserves more run and is pouting.

So 3 McD's All American's who less than 18 months ago were hyped to the high heavens are basically in basketball exile. A professional coach (WW/TG) or semi-professional coach (TMG) evaluated each in practice and games and sent them to a lower league due to their inadequacies. No wonder Capel knew we were overhyped at the beginning of last year. I'm not saying he's blameless, because he brought them in and was in charge of teaching them the right attitude. But these guys aren't lighting up the world for anyone else either. Tough to teach when the person doesn't want to learn.
