Willie Warren to the D-League

So 3 McD's All American's who less than 18 months ago were hyped to the high heavens are basically in basketball exile. A professional coach (WW/TG) or semi-professional coach (TMG) evaluated each in practice and games and sent them to a lower league due to their inadequacies. No wonder Capel knew we were overhyped at the beginning of last year. I'm not saying he's blameless, because he brought them in and was in charge of teaching them the right attitude. But these guys aren't lighting up the world for anyone else either. Tough to teach when the person doesn't want to learn.

capel has never had a bad word to say about WW who fyi is still on an NBA roster and fyi .. he had mono half the season last year and was hurt the other half

Dude I've got some land to sell you by the Great Wall of China...on the good side.

Here's LA Times' beat writer Lisa Dillman's tweet announcing it...

She was interviewed this morning and all but said his attitude has been sour lately. This is the first time the Clippers have ever assigned a player to the D-League, and they will only have 10 players in uniform during this road trip unless Gordon gets back. Hard not to read between the lines.

If true, and I can't believe it wouldn't be, this speaks volumes for the issues that might have existed on last years Sooner BB team. Not that it's any new news regarding Warren's attitude, but this almost clears up any doubts imo. I haven't heard the greatest things about TMG's attitude either. Not to beat a dead horse but Capel had his hands full and should be given a bit of a break for how things turned out to an extent. JMO

Agree completely. From the stories from sources around the team, even the way Capel would phrase things in interviews, how can you miss that a few players on last year's team had attitudes that could sink the Titanic?

not WW

What are the chances of any player going from the D-League to the NBA? I rarely pay attention to the D-League which makes me wonder how often players actually do well enough to get the call back up. Seems to me that an NBA owner/coach would rather draft the next big thing out of college or high school.

Actually, I think a few players have been sent down and brought back up. I know the Thunder have sent a few down only to bring them back and play them in their games too...

feels like revisionist history going on in this thread regarding WW.

If it's true Willie is sulking or having a bad attitude he needs to seriously get his act together. The NBA doesn't babysit players unless you're as talented as Run DMC Cousins. A guy like Willie has to be willing to work harder then anyone else if he wants to make it.

It's funny I really felt the only reason why he wasn't sent to the D League off the bat was because the Clips wanted him around Blake, the only guy to keep him in line in Norman. Guess we'll find out now since he's going to be stuck in the minors.
