The Worst Sports Fans in America

GQ's heavily researched, highly scientific accounting of the bleacher creatures, bottle-throwers, couch-torchers, sexual harassers, projectile vomiters, and serially indifferent bandwagon-hoppers marring our national landscape. Residents of the City of Brotherly Love: You might want to start planning your victory parade right now

A few schools basketball fans made the list.

Seeing West Va on the list reminds me of OU playing up their Blake's freshman year. Their fans constantly booed every call against WVU and overall seemed like a bad fan base.

I'm glad they included Oregon basketball fans. What an annoying bunch they are with the dumb chants.

Someone who isn't banned from an O-State site ought to post that link. They'll probably have a meltdown because OU's not even listed, much less at the "top" of the worst fans list.

In my personal experience, oswho fans are the worst. Granted, I've not encountered most of the fans in the GQ list, but I hope never to experience worse fans than the aggies of Stillwater.

Whatever.

Everybody thinks their rival is "the worst."

Whether you want to believe it or not, OSU and OU fans are basically the same.... some bad apples/crazies, but for the most part good, friendly fan bases.

Just in the Big 12, neither OSU nor OU fans approach the level of obnoxiousness that is the Texas Tech, Missouri or Colorado fan bases.

(P.S. I'm talking about in the "real world"... not in the polarizing/obnoxious world of "message board land.")

I'm talking about the real world, too -- my actual, face-to-face dealings with oswho fans.

I think what makes oswho fans so bad is that many -- certainly not all, but many -- of them seem to hate OU more than they love their own team. That makes them bitter and petulant.

They won't come close in our lifetimes, if ever, to surpassing OU at the sport the state loves the most. And in the lesser sports in which they've had occasional success -- baseball, wrestling, basketball -- OU has had its share of success, too.

I'm not saying OU doesn't have bad fans, but my last experience in Stillwater for a Bedlam football game was so bad that I will never return.

Interesting... i have always had a very nice experience with OSU fans. I used to go to games pretty often with an OSU fan who has season tickets to football/basketball and the people are always nice and friendly.

Of course, I am not an obnoxious fan.

thats probably b/c you wear an osu shirt or coloardo shirt to appease them

Were you wearing your generic "Big XII Conference" polo? That would explain a lot.

Agree for the most part but osu fans can be down right idiotic when OU comes to town. I've have never seen osu fans be treated near as bad at OU.
I think it has a lot to do with being the little brother.

Same here. Never really had problems with them.

I think KU fans are the worst, and am surprised they haven't been mentioned so far. To me, they've been the most obnoxious fan base in the conference that's come to Norman... And they were obnoxious when it came to football... Yes, I know. Hilarious and ridiculous at the same time.

I probably deserve whatever I get, but my folks sure don't/didn't. My parents are/were (Mom's gone) the most respectful of OU fans and Mom even attended oswho for a couple of years as a young woman, so she certainly wasn't inclined to hate on that school, but after a few trips down for Bedlam hoops at GIA, she refused to go back. They raised us to cheer for both schools when OU wasn't playing oswho, but that fell by the wayside over the years. They'd just taken too much abuse from the orange-clad clowns in Stillwater.
