Those three freshman are going to be special when it is all said and done. Buddy is so similar to Hollis at this point.

I have seen a few people mention Hollis Price when talking about Buddy. While I agree that he is the most exciting freshman guard SINCE Hollis considering his on-court skill, work ethic, attitude, and passion...it's unfair to put that on Buddy just yet. They're also very different...

So, who would you compare Buddy to besides Hollis?

Just my opinion, but he reminds me a little of Daryan Selvy. Obviously better with the outside shot, but I like how Buddy can take it to the hoop athletically as well.

Personally, I think Buddy might be better than Hollis was at this point. Hollis didn't really turn it on until the end of his freshman year. Buddy is starting to take over already.

Love the way this team is shaping up right now. They'll take their lumps here and there, but man is it refreshing to have GOOD basketball back in Norman!

I hear you but there are several key similarities

- They both have big smiles
- They both play with tremendous passion and love of the game
- They both have a midrange game/transition midrange pull-up
- They both have skinny, long arms
- They both love the big shot
- They both play to the crowd
- They both have tremendous work ethic

I just can't think of a better comparison.

I think the comparison to Hollis is based more on impact and potential, than actual "style" of play.

I think Hield has a little bit of Corey Brewer's game, though obviously Hield is taller.

Brewer is the best combination of shooting and getting to the rim that I can remember at OU in some time. I think Hield has a lot of those same attributes, to go with the better size.

To find a better comparison, you'd probably have to go back before Kelvin got to OU. Because I don't think Kelvin recruited a whole lot of guys like Hield, especially out of HS.

I see a little Ryan Minor and Hollis Price in Hield. By that I mean he is doing whatever it takes to contribute as a freshman. Price had better stats as a freshman than Minor but Ryan made a lot of little plays. I think Buddy has a chance to be a special player at OU.

Hollis was smaller and didn't have the potential to take the ball to the hoop that Buddy does. Hollis was probably a little quicker but didn't play nearly as big as Buddy. Buddy makes plays that makes you think he is much taller than 6-3.

I can't think of any former OU player that Buddy reminds me of.

I'm glad you said this. It's been a thought of mine as well, but I didn't want to say it for fear someone would blow up about comparing him to an NBA all star. Not sure he'll ever be as crafty around the hoop as Wade is, but he's got all the other skills.
