Word on the street down here is Zach Peters is going to announce his college choice tomorrow. He's a very athletic, more skilled version of Taylor Griffin. A little bigger than 6'7", he's a Team Texas kid this year, but was raised in Jeff Webster's ProSkills program. He plays alongside Julius Randal at Prestonwood Christian Academy.

I don't have that on first-hand information, but the word is coming from some good authority down here. I will see if I can get confirmation from some people I know that are closer to the situation.

He's visited North Carolina, Kentucky, and Texas that I know of; and has been offered by those three, OU, Kansas, Missouri, and Baylor according to Rivals

Stay tuned...

UNC, KY, KU, .... we are in trouble with those MEN involved.

There are strong influences in his inner circle that have OU ties. In the immortal words of Jimmy V, "...don't give up, don't ever give up" ;)

Would be shocked if he chose OU.
I hold out hope that he chooses OU until he doesn't. If we as true Sooner fans loathe ourselves, then it should come as no surprise that others - including recruits - will also view us more negatively.

We have experienced problems, for sure. However, with some good recruiting and a group of kids who will play more as a team, we might be better next year and could build a very dolid foundation for the future.

Look forward to welcoming you to the Sooner fold Zach!

Spoke with someone close to the situation. Looks like the info on Zach announcing tomorrow is accurate; but unfortunately, I heard it's not likely to be good news for us :(

He has a press conference scheduled for 2:40pm Wednesday and it's going to be KU is the word.
Self was there Monday morning at 8am watching him workout and hours later he scheduled the presser for Wednesday. Kid's a player by all reports. And his teammate 6'7 or so frosh Julius Randle is even a bigger time prospect.

the rich get richer.

Cheno is correct. BTW, Julius is closer to 6'9" and is a legit 2013 - he is only 15.

My info proves that most rumors on the AAU circuti are just that.

Any relation to the Zach Peters that played DT for Switzer until he was shot, the launching of the end?

No. You asked that last time.

This was a case of bad timing for OU imo. I was hoping he would hold off until until next year before he chose a school. What sucks is that teams like North Carolina and Kansas will be taking him in order to try and get Randle. OU would gladly take just Peters. He is limited athletically but he has a lot of skill and would fit in well with the type of player that coach Capel wants at the 4.

So he goes to KU and will ride the pine. Is he that type of player? Good player at most schools just not at Kansas.

Exactly. He will most likely get recruited over at KU. He is really only around 6-7 and like I said, he is limited athletically. He peaked physically several years ago when he was rated as the number 1 8th grader in the nation. Kids are now passing him by in the growth department. I bet he will end up being a 4 star when it is all said and done (same for Perry Ellis). I predict he doesn't play much as long as Self stays put and continues to recruit at the caliber that he has since arriving at KU. Julius Randle will be a star though and this puts the Jayhawks in the driver's seat for him though....

This is exactly right. Peters is a nice player who has probably tapped out as far as potential, but nontheless a nice player. But for a school such as Kansas to accept his committment means they are doing it to get Randle IMO.

No doubt. And its not like getting Peters is a bad catch at all. He is a good student, hard worker, and a good kid. He has some skill, but he is a tweener who will have a hard time at an elite school finding a position.

I would love to have him at OU!
