#10 OU at #4 Texas 2pm 2/1

And I just hope they have fight in them and don't let themselves get whooped by 30 or 40 and become an embarrassment that loses any kind of momentum in the national seedings/rankings

How is Lofton this bad at shooting free throws? I've seen her miss both free throws multiple times. She doesn't have a jump shot or an outside shot either so how was she rated so highly as a recruit, and why do we recruit players like this? Same thing with Caya Smith except she's gotten a little better. When we get players like this that don't have offensive skills and face teams like Texas it's just never going to be competitive.
You’re not that bad of an analyst are you? Lofton didn’t come in until the end of the second quarter. She immediately had a steal and took it to score. She has to have time to warm up. Also, you surely have never watched her. Mid range is her best shot. Superb! The coach doesn’t use her right. Which is why other fans are asking her to come to their team. I hope she goes if she wants to play her game. Smith and Vann too. Wouldn’t stay and be used like this, while Chavez watches on defense and doesn’t pass.

Sooo

The 2nd or third.. jump ball which should have gone to OU went to horns… what was the reason? I didn’t ever hear

First time you play a team like texas (talking style —- ulta violent, deny ever pass, body every dribbler etc) it is tough. We adjusted but had dug such a big hole. Really can’t replicate that style in practice. Good experience that will help us down the line

Hope jennie learns the following lessons: First, you don’t feed the post down the free throw lane when they are fronting. Beers isn’t tall enough. Just a bad angle.

Second, you can’t worry about spacing against deny man, just run handoffs from the screener. Otherwise you can’t work the ball around and get pushed way to far out

Third, start bitching before the game at the officials about moving screens and stay after them until the game us over. Essentially it is texas’ entire offense.

Spot on!

From what I could tell by reading lips and watching table and officials' motions during/after the review, it seemed like it was flipped after that 5 second call on TX, e.g. it was pointed OU's way, 5 second call on TX happened, and then it flipped to TX.

So I'm not crazy or imagining things. Didn't have any effect on the outcome, but a comment on the poor quality of officiating. I mean they reviewed it and didn't change it. I am fairly certain a five second call doesn't flip the arrow, correct?

Are you a relative or something?? I've never seen Lofton take a midrange jumper, maybe way back in non-con she did? I've seen her take 3s that are horribly off, and I've seen her drive the the basket. She plays as much as I think she'd play on ANY P4 team, especially in the SEC.

To be clear, I'm not trying to be hard on her, but when you play off the bench it's the little things like free throws that really do matter and I've seen her miss BOTH free throws multiple times. As far as needing time to 'warm up' goes, you've got to be ready and make the most of every minute you play as a freshman. I'm hoping she improves, but I really thought she'd be a better offensive player. I have the same frustration with Caya, but here's to hoping for next year on that front.

If we'd brought in any portal players, we'd maybe been able to be more competitive that first half, and not had such a big hole to climb out of. Our young girls were shocked and just didn't handle the occasion well. As far as Chavez goes, she still outscored Harmon, who is supposed to be 'the best PG in the country' so idk if she really played that badly outside of missing some more shots than usual, but that'll happen against a team that's that quick on defense. That overrated chant from the crowd was pathetic!

I have said many times that I started out watching Vann in high school. Big Vann fan. I followed them all through high school. Lofton is one of the best midrange shooters I’ve seen. Very smooth off the elbow. She isn’t being used right. I’m not being bias. I know. She would shine somewhere else. You think ESPN and all the coaches that recruited her are wrong?

It would be completely strange if a freshman was ready to play good, sound and smart college basketball. It takes development. Chavez, Loftin, Stewart and all other freshmen will be different and, if they keep their head on straight and work diligently, they will be better and more confident next year. Same for the following years if they stay healthy.

I like all the freshmen and think Jennie is using them fine. Vann and Smith are plainly improved this year. Kids hit their stride at different times. Of course, you need to play to get the experience needed to develop. Tough this year, with all of the good returning upper classmen, to get minutes for all the freshmen.

If everyone stays, we definitely need a portal big to replace Beers. We are a completely different team with her on the court. Got to have a big.

I think they should stay too. I just get frustrated knowing what they can actually do and losing. But they’re all Playing different roles. I need to remember that and Verhulst is a good reminder. She just got in a groove after an awkward start for her. I think the system they have is very hard to learn. It’s not like they have a play book to study. I am the first to admit I need to shut up most days.

5 sec call doesn’t reset possession. I saw the table guy kept putting 5 fingers up.

Unless D1 WOMEN’S ball calls it different

Bingo… will she learn…?… I dunno. We keep turning the ball over on stupid crap we continue to do.

Not that I could find… maybe it’s a Tex rule…😡
