#11 OU at #22 Louisville 4pm 12/4

Some keys to the comeback:
  • I think our pace for 4 quarters wore down Louisville in the 4th quarter
  • We finally found rhythm to our offense late (29 points in Q4)
  • Sahara posting tough and getting layups plus she hit a big 3 in Q4
  • Zya after really struggling, hit 2 really tough driving layups that were big getting us close
  • Peyton created her own shot for a 15 foot jumper that gave us the lead
  • Tot hit 2 free throws in last minute to keep 4 point lead and then Peyton going 4-4 at the line to make it 78-72
Important win that will be a Quad 1 road win come tournament seeding time

Does anyone else remember the Louisville vs Baylor game in the NCAA tournament in OKC several years ago - when Griner was still there? It's often called the game where Kim Mulkey did the strip tease! Louisville played them the same way - perhaps even more aggressive. Baylor adjusted in the 2nd half but lost the game. It was awesome! As I watched this game I told myself I couldn't complain too much about how Louisville played because I enjoyed their victory over Baylor so much!

I did make some observations:

Jeff Walz may work the officials more than any other coach. He was constantly in their ear in the first half. He could have done the same in the 2nd half but the TV didn't show him as much.

I agree that Louisville wore down in the 2nd half. The pace of the game wasn't their cup of tea.

According to Jennie, the 6 free throws that Tott hit were the first free throws she's shot all year. Of all the turnovers we had, none of them were hers.

This game shows how much these players have grown over the past 3 or 4 years. They wouldn't have won this game in the previous years.

Naysayers shut up. This team has a lot of grit and won't quit. They sure as hell didn't play like this in the last years of the Sherri and her brat era.
Let's be behind them and see if they can't make some noise this year.
lol… dude you’re blind if you can’t see the faults. I’ll cheer for them and hope they win the NC but Louisville screwed the pooch, they should have kept driving.

I’ll give the ladies credit but there is plenty to correct. Jenny must be ok with bad passes, nothing has changed in 3 years.

26 TO’s won’t win many sec games.

I will agree that Sherri got complacent the last 4/5 years. Jenny playing “Billy Ball”.

It’s hilarious what some of these people post. Before you decide they suck try watching THE WHOLE GAME.
I’ll complain about bad passes and ball handling all I want. Super glad they won, but there’s a lot to correct.

The pace might have kept them from intense def in the 4th… they seemed to back off a bit. But for 3 qtrs they were in ou’s butt… tight

The pace was part of it. But they don't know how to play defense without fouling so they had a lot of players in trouble.

Go ahead and complain, knock yourself out. but they went on the road and beat a ranked team. Teams that suck don’t do that

Never said they suck… said they make really bad passes A LOT. Big difference…

Foul count was either in their favor or at least equal for 3 qtrs. Plus OU’s TO’s mostly by self inflicted passes… didn’t help.

Jeff Walz is a Kim Mulkey wannabe! Complaining all the time and when the play is on his end of the court he’s in the officials ears constantly.

We suck. Second ranked opponent and it's going to be a second loss in a row. Not like we've had a week to prepare for this matchup or anything. Our girls are throwing the ball to no one and committing silly turnovers just because they are outmatched in athleticism. I was really thinking this team could be special with a good center on the roster but we are proving that the guards are incapable of helping her out right now. Very disappointing. Down 11 after 3

Is Wichita sooner your sister? Must be a Kansas thing. Nothing better to do but troll OU hoops.

We are always going to have more than the average # of turnovers because of our running style, but the ones we have to correct are the unforced errors in the half court offense, either horrible passes, losing it off your foot out of bounds, etc.
But as an aside I am one of the fans who has been down on Neveah, but she really played well yesterday I thought. Zero turnovers(Sahara had an unbelievable 9) and managed the game well.

The ladies didn't play very well and still won. That is a promising thing not a negative IMO. There are, and always will be, a few more turnovers in the women's game than in the men's game. The difference gets less and less the higher of quality and level of play. It is just a factual statement to say that we turn the ball over more than we should and will need to improve during the season (related to this issue) to reach our goals. It seems to me though Jennie's teams have improved through the season every year on their fundamentals and turnovers and so they have to be working on the right things for that to happen. When you play as many kids as she does and mix and match lineups like she does, it would normally take a little longer to get some of this stuff cleaned up.

On turnovers, there are two kinds. Turnovers caused by physical mistakes and then turnovers caused by poor judgment (such as dribbling to nowhere or to baseline traps, unnecessary passes for no purpose and from poor angles, dribbling in the paint etc, ie violating all of the old and tried and true adages related to basketball). You can keep a team aggressive and not "coach" a team out of its aggression, when you stick to working on eliminating "judgment" turnovers. You want kids to not be fearful to run your offense.

In any event, it is way to early in the year to become overly worried about this issue in my judgment. Just my opinion, but Jennie is bringing the ladies along just fine. Sure, we have a few ladies that need to use a little better judgment, but I think they will as they get game film to see what they are doing. I still say this team is poised to do big things this year.

Love Beers, Beatrice and Liz in the paint, PV and SV's leadership, and then we just need to keep finding the right pieces around these girls and I think we will be hard to beat.

Tot was my unsung hero of the game yesterday. That game was so discombobulated, calling it ragtag would’ve been giving it a compliment. Yet, as you pointed out, she didn’t turn it over once.
