#13 OU vs #6 LSU 2pm 1/18

Not sure the lineup of Verhulst, Vann, Tolan, Stewart, and Smith have been on the floor together before today but they’ve put together some valuable minutes to keep us close.

Well I haven't been watching on TV because the last few games have been frustrating and just by following online it looks like nothing has changed in the week we've had to practice. We just are not good enough this season. This is a second round tournament team at best. Coach really failed this team by not grabbing any portal players and relying entirely on freshmen and returning players. Big mistake. No one else in the SEC was dumb enough to do it... This is what we paid for though in a coach of JB's caliber. A good coach, but not a great coach and the results are showing.

JB seems to be fine with high risk high reward passing that leads to a lot of turnovers. Our offense just isn't patient, I get wanting to play fast, but if you are a mediocre 3 point team it can hurt you in tight games which I think we have seen lately.
Spot on…

Ya, tuned in 13/7 OU… lol now down by 10.

We really can’t run n gun with good teams. Obviously this shows we don’t run much of an offense or we don’t have the talent to do that with the big dogs.

With women’s bball it’s a big gap.

Top 5-7 then the next 15 then a few after that.

I’ve seen (we all have) a top 5 team beat a “top 25” team by 30+… on regular basis.

We are not in the top group.

Ya we might get a win every now and then… pretty sure we won’t get beat by 20+ but we just aren’t there.

Biggest concern is Jenny is selling out to Chavez like Lon did for Trae. I do think women handle it differently but what other stud guard will come when Chavez as a fr runs the show. She a great talent but she’s a fr as well making some mistakes.

Just my two cents

It just looks like the game comes easier to more talented teams. Our girls are trying to do things they just are not capable of doing. Hitting one out of every three or four offensive possessions is just not going to be good enough. At this rate we will be lucky to be a top 16 seed because our record against ranked opponents is abysmal right now and moving forward. So frustrating, I really thought this year we would be right up there with the top tier. To me this says the coaching is not good enough. I don't believe we will make a final four let alone a national championship under this staff.

I have no idea if this is the case, but I read that the OU men are 15th in the SEC in NIL spending for players. South Carolina is last. I wonder if we could be in similar shape with the women.

LSU is just more talented. Their guards are WNBA players. Ours aren’t. Chavez hasn’t adjusted well to physical play. We have to hope for a good portal season.

Our offense doesn’t seem to create open shots like other teams get…. You have to wonder if Chavez looks else where after this season.

See… there is a coach. Ya can hate mulkey all ya want…
With those two 3’s… OU cuts the lead to 18…lol. She calls a TO because of that.

I'm so embarrassed for this program right now..but at least now we know the score and can temper our expectations. I don't predict very many more wins if any against our remaining ranked opponents. This team could have been one of the best teams we've had in the last 15 years but it's going to go down as one of the biggest miscalculations in personnel and failures on a young coach. Teams like this don't deserve to have a sold-out crowd. They don't even play with pride. First weekend tournament team.

Any time you have a game where one team has 20 free-throws in the first half and the other has only 4, you have issues beyond the play on the court by the players.
Disagree, there’s a ton of reasons…
Style of offense, style of defense, effort on defense..
Ya refs miss calls.. usually on both sides.
As I told my hs girls when I was coaching, ya have to start aggressive, can’t start halfway through.

LSU’s players are just more athletic and good bball players… I use the word “smooth”.

I agree but OU must learn to guard and not foul, those fouls happens against OU because they trying to guard girls that are much better athletes and has a proven coach on the sideline

Well, we certainly were called for dirty, rough, cheating play more than LSU was. Although, the balance in the officiating calls changed a lot once the outcome was determined.
