...that OU won two games in the conference tournament.

Crazy to think how it looked like Kelvin Sampson was going to make a habit of winning the tournament, and OU hasn't even made the finals since that run of three straight wins (thanks partly to Buddy being a mere fraction of a second too late with his miracle shot).

I don't know if fans will be allowed in Kansas City this year, but if not, that levels the playing field. With Iowa State in the first round and either WVU or Kansas in the second - well, if this isn't the year to win 2+ games, when is?

Yep. Miss us doing well in that tournament.

Wow. Those 3-straight tournament championships sure were fun.

Here's another (wild, painful, etc.) stat:

Lon's Big 12 Tournament Records:
2012: 0-1
2013: 0-1
2014: 0-1
2015: 1-1
2016: 1-1
2017: 0-1
2018: 0-1
2019: 0-1

Total: 2-8

And in the lone wins in '15 and '16, Buddy had 22 and 39 points, respectively.

I can’t imagine anyone who was more frustrated when we were winning games and climbing the rankings. You most be thrilled to have things to complain about the past 10 days.

Guess it’s a good thing Lon recruited Buddy, then!

He was in time by every clock in the arena, but he was late by the light on the backboard. I was in the building, and it was pure-assed pandemonium for about a minute.

man, you don't ever give up...guess good for you.

Serious question....will you ever think it's time for kruger to step down?

Sure. If we miss the tournament more than one year in a row. If we cheat. If we aren’t we’ll coached. If our players get in trouble off the court. If we don’t have one of the best track records of making the NCAA tournament during his tenure.

Serious question for you and those like you who constantly drive the narrative that it’s time to move on: do you pay attention to what 90 percent of programs go through? Do you think better coaches than Lon fall from trees? In the past two or three years, people on this board have suggested our program has fallen behind the likes of KSU & ISU when they had a good season or two. I think one or two posters have even talked up TCU. We’ve had the frequent Buzz Williams love fests, and calls for an intense guy like Buzz or Bobby Hurley. I wonder whether fans of those programs would be happy if you told them their program would make the tourney eight of nine years. I’m guessing so, given where they all find themselves now.

Me as well. I'm going from memory here, so I may be a game off...but you will get the point. Kelvin Sampson won 19 conference tournament games in 12 seasons. In the 13 years since (were were 0-0 last year), we have won a total of FIVE conference tournament games. Perhaps it was six, but it was not more than that. It's hard for me to wrap myself around that level of futility. I'd say we're just a tad overdue for a nice run.

yes and no

Lon is the 14th highest paid coach in the country. (GM is out at wsu). Behind Self, Beard, Huggins from the B12.

I'd think for that cash we could be better than 7th.

I will add to your favor, several guys above him are guys I wouldn't think would get that kind of money..Utah for one.

OU's winning % ALL TIME, is 43rd. .610

Lon Kruger's overall winning % .610 ranks him #251...another add in your favor is that is ALL TIME, so Wooden, Sutton, etc. Both KS and Tubbs were above LK.

So he's getting top 15 $ but isn't producing top 15 result..not even close.

It really is hard to believe we have only been to the B12 SEMIS once in 16 years...

I’m not sure that’s correct: off the top of my head I have us losing in the semis in 08, 15 and 16.

A far cry from Kelvin being the toughest out there was. Made the Finals five out of six during one stretch (98-03).

that sounds right to me. and i used to post at sf and the ministers board as king crimson, not this guy.

I'm hopeful this team is going to slug it out Sampson-style this year. I expect every game from here on out to be single-digits (win or lose).
