Marquise Carter is the younger brother of former Sooner foward, Nate Carter. The younger Carter is averaging 17.2 ppg, 5.5 apg, and is shooting 38.3% from behind the arc. The Three Rivers CC point guard prospect is being recruited by Wichita State, Iowa, UNLV, Gonzaga, and Oklahoma. His team will be competing in the Hutchinson JUCO national tournament which kicks off tomorrow. OUHoops.com will be there to take in the action.

Sounds like a good player to me with an obvious connection to the program.... Iowa should be off the list with a coaching change, so that narrows it down.

Hmm that is now two JUCO point guards we have been linked to with he and Daniel West. Is there more than meets the eye here?

I don't think there is more to this than meets the eye. Even under the best of circumstances next year's OU team needs some pg help. TMG needs someone to push him in practice to make him better, as well as someone good enough to keep him from playing 35+ minutes a game and being worn out. OU needs someone good enough to lead the team to wins should TMG get injured or decide he wants to take the defensive end of the floor for granted again.

Also, should TMG decide to go pro after this :ez-laugh: or next season, a juco pg insures the program of not having to go with a freshman at this spot in the next two years.

At 6'4" 205, may be some off-guard minutes available as well.

TMG needs someone who can back him up, 37+ minutes (which is what he was playing in conference) is too many as a freshman and sophomore.

I think it means either tmg or WW is gone one of the two...prob WW going pro...because we are after ross also...

I will get a chance to see Carter this week. It is a great week of basketball in Hutch. Lots of good players.

if he has any of the toughness his older bro had, bring him downnnnn

I would absolutely LOVE to have Nate Carter's little brother. I love everything about it.

And I'm a guy who normally doesn't like to sign junior college players. But if ever there was a year to bring in some 20-21 year old guys, this is the time.

Greg,
Great info.

Thanks!!!!

Love to get some talented mature guys to put their mark on the team. Having Sooner bloodlines is a nice nice bonus.

According to Sam, there was no desire on the defensive end. That's not a characteristic of maturity. Also, he's a Sophomore. Willie Warren is a sophomore. I never heard him being accused of being mature. What makes Carter mature?

I sincerely hope his is mature and this is a kid that is probably OU's to lose if they offer. However, I don't know if there is an offer and there might not be one until the dust settles on all other recruits. I'd like to find out a little more about the kid's overrall game besides his statline. I do like the fact that he's a bigger pg.

I like the fact that he's bigger too. That may enable he and TMG to play together, assuming TMG is back.
