Coach talk: I don't look at this site often, maybe once every couple of weeks, but the last time I posted was several months ago when you were bashing Curren SCott (spelling?) Since that time, I have taken more interest in following not only Scott and Memorial, but also Mustang and PCWest, as they are the better teams in the State. It is absolutely comical how you can come on here and bash a kid that you know absolutely nothing about! I don't know who Mister F is, but he has obviously seen Scott play and thinks he IS or COULD BE "OU MATERIAL" in your words. I saw Scott play in the MUstang game and he was hands down the best player on the court that night and Memorial probably would have won the game had he not sprained his ankle (in a game with 5-6 future Division 1 players on the court). I also saw him play in the finals of the McGuiness Tournament against Norman North (again in a game with 4-5 future D1 players) and he dominated that game as well scoring over 30 points and won Tournament MVP! If you and others will remember, I was the one on here saying that OU should be focusing on Scott and Tyson Jolly back then! they are both now getting a lot of attention (especially Jolly) from schools outside the state and in state! I have also seen interviews with Scott from local high school basketball media outlets where he has praised his teammates and especially his current coach, so where do you come up with the notion he's not "ou material". And why do you think he "did a coach dirty". and do you know his dad at all? Or are you just going off heresay from someone? You lose credibility when you spew things that aren't fact! In the 2 games I've seen Curran Scott play this year he has been a leader, a great player, a great scorer, a clutch free throw shooter, and he is an Oklahoma kid who I understand has good grades as well. If that's not OU material, then I would like to know your definition!

Ask anyone on here. I dont just spew crap... I do know fact. I know more fact than yourself. Call me out all you want. Ask the folks that come here EVERYDAY. I bring fact. I was one of the first to report Jelon Transferring 6 months before it happened.(pm several admins and posters).. CJ cole info... Collins going to TCU, Amath going pro... (buddy going pro) ZO going to Zona...
Recruit after recruit that has visited... offered... Committed... etc...

I was dead wrong on Shake... Bad intel ill say... lol @brettromar!

Why did he transfer his Sr. year? Who was coaches office weekly? I know all parties involved. Youve seen him twice? I never said he wasnt good or going to college on a full ride. I said he wasnt going to OU level school. Thats my opinion. I dont consider smu, utep, tcu... OU type schools... You can say whatever you want in front of a camera.. Character is revealed behind closed doors when no one is watching.

Tell me where scott is going to college?

I did sell jolly a tad short. I have since changed my opinion on him and think he's a legit OU type player.

3 starters transferred from Sf last year, 2 are currently at PCWEST and 1 at Edmond memorial. Shaq left SF his senior year and another starter left a couple of years before that, (don't know the name). The difference is, of the 3 who left last year, Scott is more high profile, so he gets more attention because he transferred from outsiders like yourself. IF you know ALL parties involved, then you have first hand knowledge from Scott and his parents? Have you talked to them? Is that what you are saying? If you are talking to the SF coaches, that's not getting all the facts! What do you think they are going to say when 3 starters leave the program? Do you think they are going to tell you the truth? Did Shaq have bad parents too? Is Coach Evans a bad parent? Or were they just looking for a better opportunity for their kids where they could excel? Use your head. That's like asking a disgruntled wife about their ex-husband! my point is, if you haven't talked to the kid or the parents, and don't even know them (I'm making the assumption you don't know them), then you DONT have ALL the facts! Calling kids "head cases" or saying things about their parents is irresponsible when you really don't know. I don't know where Scott is going, I heard he is getting interest from several schools right now, and I wish him and all the other Oklahoma kids the best!

I've never seen CoachTalk "bash" or run down anyone on here. He's simply giving opinion and some insight which is always welcome as far as I'm concerned. Furthermore I cant recall seeing anyone here really bash any Oklahoma kids. I have seen numerous posters say they don't think certain in state guys are OU material and then watched other posters get their panties in a wad over it. Obviously some of us are going to disagree on just how good some recruits are and that shouldn't be a crime.

And again Coach never said he was a head case, only that he'd heard as much. Big difference.

If scott isn't good enough to play at OU, that's fine, he may not be, I guess I just have a problem with spreading things about kids character or their parents. Shaq was labeled as a bad kid when he transferred. It just seems irresponsible to make comments like that from the outside looking in. It affects kids. I'm not questioning Coachtalk's knowledge about recruiting, and I agree everyone is entitiled to their opinions.

I'm with you there. I wouldn't want anyone taking shots at a kids character just because, and that wasn't a dig at you just pointing it out because I've seen it happen a few times. I've been reading here so long I almost feel like I know most of the posters and their character and so when I see something like that from CoachTalk I understand he's just passing along info he's heard and we can all get bad info at times which is why it has to be taken with a grain of salt. I'm all for in state kids making it at this level though so I wish the best to all these guys!

And I understand where you are coming from. I just know a lot of facts. Yes 3 guys transferred. Shaq left to chase a state championship with Mem... It was the easy thing to do... Scott left, Evans, and I forget the last one...

You can blame all the coaches if you want... But Why would school support the coach time and time again... And told Terry Evans and his son to hit the door... Seems like bad PR unless someone was in the wrong... shaq went d1, evans is going d1, scott will play d1 somewhere...

Evans is going to OSU... Great for him... OU didnt offer. OU has won the last 4 times from OSU and LK is whipping tford every year.

I know its hard ripping someone's character. I dont have a problem doing it if I know its true. That may make some mad but the truth hurts. I was asked an opinion on scott and I gave it.

Scott has offers from Rice and Texas St. and I think a new offer from Fresno St.

But is it your place? If there is something wrong, just state "may have some off court issues" and take it to PM. It's pretty easy to sit behind a computer and anonymously attack a high schooler's character when you don't have any consequences. Just don't think it's wise to go after Oklahoma kids personally when you are (I presume) a coach in Oklahoma.

We all said/did things we regret when were 15-18, know I did, so why banish someone for it? I'm sure many posters have character flaws, but we're not going to get personal about those.

Fair Enough. I will refrain from mentioning that in the future.

Coach, I usually agree with much of what you say. However, I also think/know you to be a little off on this one. Opinion is always a personal choice, but it is also a little tough to categorize someone on a message board. I am close to some coaching sources at Memorial, and they paint a different picture--even though they heard terrible rumors as well:
they say that the Scott kid has been a hard worker, has worked to improve himself as a player, has been great at being a teammate, has been easy to coach, and more importantly have had ZERO issues with his family--the dad is non-existent in their affairs. Reason given for the move was to improve himself as a player. They said they had heard all the rumors as well, but that none of it has proven to be true in their program. It was also shared that the family tried to move to Memorial the summer of Scott's soph. year, but that the family was convinced to stay by the new coach to give his program a chance.

The Memorial coach thinks pretty highly of Scott, and there have been a number of D1 kids go through that school over the last 6 years--including a current and future Sooner. I know you pulled back a little with your last comment and appreciate that. I just hate for young people to be unfairly branded and/or not given the opportunity to show maturity if that is the case.

per coaches--Scott is being recruited by Tulsa, Rice, Fresno, UTEP, UNLV, Western Kentucky, and ORU.....just to name a few.

I'm not going to back down from fact about the bolded issues. Ive been spot on with Ok kids. Of course the Mem coaches wont say anything bad... They got a D1 move in.

Those recruiting him are not OU level. I do think UNLV is close but I dont think they want him.

We can agree to disagree. I dont post half truths and rumors. Ive held stories on committs bc I wasnt 100%. you can ask ADA bc I almost always message him because he has reached out to me in the past.
Several other posters have messaged me reguarding info they had and I have confirmed or denied...

There are several posters that have GREAT intel and just dont share it.

And there are several that have half-rate, manufactured info, that simply take a side and run with it, knowing the truth will never be proven on this message board.

Not saying that describes you, just making an observation.

My question for you would be what happened about 2 years ago that suddenly brought you into all this info? Or made you decide to share it? Because before that, I don't remember you having or sharing the kind of info you have been recently. Just curious.

There are also a lot of posters, including myself that feel if you have to transfer to another school when you are already a starter there is something wrong. It might not be attitude, it might not be play on the court, (I am not sure what to call it ) but if you already a starter at the school you attend then there really should be no reason to change schools. And we all know high school coaches have less and less say or control on kids today then 20 years ago. Its almost all AAU now that is in control.

Part of what is wrong with high school sports for both basketball and football is moving around from school to school and recruiting for high schools. Its becoming more and more like college for upper division high schools. There is a good chance that your incoming good freshman will transfer before the senior year. In my opinion that is not good for anyone. Now there is always exception, but its way to easy to transfer these days.

I lurked for a long time. Ive been introduced to a few new folks, connected to a lot of coaches/players. Started attending recruiting functions etc.

You have to build up trust with folks and once you read awhile and "get to know"

I respond with a question... Has most my intel been completely wrong, disproven, false, before?

As I said Coach--I generally agree with and enjoy your posts. I don't agree with you, and believe that some of your rationale is flawed. By the way...why would it be thought that memorial coaches would only say good things about a kid after coaching him for a year just because they got a D1 talent, but Santa Fe coaches can say bad things about him leaving and it doesn't hold the same value? That is flawed thinking my friend...you can't have it both ways.

I never said the Scott kid was OU good, and it is rediculous to even argue about that point seeing as OU has gone in a different direction. I simply questioned the need (as others) of spreading negative propaganda about a kid, that hasn't been the case in his other school. Also, it seems that every one of the SF move-outs has been extremely happy with their moves. Maybe the true problem lies within?

this bothers me a little... You dont have to read my posts, but I'll bet you do and enjoy the opinions on players, coaches, etc...

Do you believe what I say all the time, some, or none??

Youve been here 1.5 yrs less than me but twice as many posts...? does that mean a thing??

Never said it was SF coaches. You assumed that. I dont rely just on one source. Most of my knowledge is first hand..

Why'd they move... IF im so wrong what was the reason? Dont give me a blank... we wanted to improve as a player... Thats a crap answer.
