i think mulkey is the perfect fit for baylor, the model for everything that they do. She denies everything. She "didn't see" griner elbow mcfarland to the face as they ran down the court. She "didn't see" griner break anyone's jaw. She "didn't see" the hair-pulling by williams. She just never seems to see the incidents which characterize baylor's lack of character or sportsmanship. When forced to admit something by public pressure, she oversells her horror and suspends someone for a quarter (or a nickel, whichever is less), as long as it does not occur in the playoffs as it did when the players and assistant coaches left the bench to join a fight---an automatic ncaa suspension for the next game, which never occurred for some reason---thanks ncaa.
Is this not exactly what we see in the rape cases. It's not true until forced to admit it. Fire someone (but, can't we get briles back?), express horror, and begin again once the furor has died down. It has been going on in various baylor programs at least since bliss. Mulkey's position on the title ix violations and the rapes is that it has nothing to do with her team. But, the attitude is exactly that of mulkey and her team.
For this reason, i see it as a step down in character for anyone who decides to go to baylor, the same as i would for anyone who decided to reform sae in norman. Why would you wish to join the only program that voepel and jenkins have written negative commentary about?
