2026 Transfer portal

Audi Crooks just announced she has committed to OSU. So we lost out on her also. If we are done in the portal I consider this another failure of a portal class. We needed to load up on several players and we got two guards, only one of which has played significant minutes her freshman season.

What would our record this past season have been without Beers? And if we aren't replacing her, how can we duplicate it?
This aspect of portal activity is mind boggling.

Portal closes today. Hope she has someone in mind to bring in for a visit. Could get a late commitment in the coming days.

Penn State's 6'6" girl Gracie Merkle is still available, so is Addy Brown and there's a 6'3" girl from Marquette that was listed as one of the top portal prospects also. I'm sure there are several girls with height not listed in the top portal rankings that are still available and could give us a good 6-9 ppg and good minutes to spell one of our starters. Heck there could be a diamond in the rough somewhere still if only our coaches dug past the ones everyone else wants and pursued them. I think depth off the bench will be key next season. We are loaded with tall guards, no we need depth at the 4/5 position, which we have zilch of right now. Fingers crossed they aren't done yet!

A mobile kid who is tall enough to help inside would be a nice addition, but I like the roster as is. I think Stewart and Bell will be a little better and more competitive inside than we think. I am just a huge fan of Stewart. I would have started her ahead of Williams this year (and I love Williams but just think Stewart is special).

I have a sneaky hunch Lofton and Caya Smith are going to be a lot better players than most anticipate they will be. Smith needs to do a better job of staying within her skill set offensively. I see her as a terrific defensive player and good all round player. I think she can help inside as well. And on Lofton, I think she can be a star. Not sure why, I just love the way she plays. Not sure who I would have had her play instead of, but I really wanted to see Jennie play her more. It seemed to me we were just a better team with her on the floor. And importantly, she is crazy long and I think she has an unlimited upside as a defender. Both her and Caya have obviously been extremely well coached growing up. I like their fundamentals. Seem very natural and just the way they play.

So, I am with you tom, I know we lost Vann (and that will hurt IMO), but otherwise, it is positive that we seem to have retained the rest of the roster.

Love Jennie and what she has done with the program, but like soonerinkc, I would like to see a little more discipline in all phases of the team and think it would help. A little more help inside, a little more discipline relating to turnovers and shot selection, and I don't see any ceiling on this team. I think we are going to be every bit as good as the last couple years. Looking forward to watching.

If we can add just one more player, with height, then I'm very happy with the roster as a whole. It'll be very interesting to see how the sophomores have improved. If they stick together by the time they are seniors, watch out!

Right, it is easy to forget just how young this team is. If we have to, we go with what we have next year and then focus on getting a kid to play the middle next year. Should be able to surround whoever we get with a really seasoned and talented bunch.

Sa’Myah Smith plans visit

Virginia transfer Sa’Myah Smith is another highly sought-after big. The 6-2 junior from Texarkana (TX) averaged 7.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game last season after transferring in from LSU.
The door isn’t closed for a possible return to the Cavaliers with new head coach Aaron Roussell at the helm, but sources told On3 that Smith plans to visit Oklahoma early next week.

Feels like they’re trying to build for the next year and getting young girls that will stay and trust the process.

I agree on all fronts here. Sina & Lee Lee will be very impactful next year. Honestly, don't count out Vienna. Finally, we will have some depth back and clearly this style of play needs it to help with the Discipline. It helps when you can actually sub someone out when they are going off the rails. I do feel our biggest flaw last season was taking bad shots...felt like turnovers most of the time. Chavez will be a year older and we'll see if she can grow like Zya did from her freshman year. I think she is a smart player and can grow. Losing Zya will hurt on the defensive side for sure...but she took a lot of questionable shots as well.

The other big weakness of this team last year was outside shooting. Let's hope the new players will help with that.

1 athletic post that can run the floor will help and a big thumper to help rebound/defend vs. a big center. Are there any big True scoring Centers in the SEC to worry about next season?

R2D2, your point about our weak 3 point shooting was the single most surprising thing about this years team for me. I would have bet a bunch of money we would have been an elite 3 point shooting team and we were just the opposite. In particular, I was surprised at how poorly Verholst and Chavez shot the ball. We really need to improve in that area this year. Hopefully we will see improvement from the returning players and Parks, Speiser and Murry help in that area. There were games this year where we were so bad at shooting 3s, I was surprised Jennie even allowed them to be shot.
