5th Year Transfer Thread

M'Baye would have definitely started this year.

Agreed. No way you bring a guy with M'Baye's size, shot-blocking ability and skills off of the bench. He and Spangler would have given us a formidable duo at the post positions this season.

It is my understanding that M'Baye had a need to contribute to his family financially. Also, he didn't think that playing the #4 another year would do much to help his draft status. M'Baye has never been anything but just a big guard.

He has spent the past year playing a #3 while leading his team in scoring and rebounding. Supposedly, he has seen dramatic improvement in his outside shooting and ball handling. His plans are to spend the summer in Las Vegas going through all of the NBA camps. Some think that his draft stock has gone up after a year of skills work.

I guess you would have to sit cam.

Woodard, cousins, hield, mbaye, spangler looks real nice. dammit

Unlv's leading scorer is leaving. I think a guard. It's doubtful Lon pursues him but he'd be a 5th guy. He may go play oversea's if I remember correctly.

I live in Vegas and he is a bad guy. He was dismissed at USC then transferred to Vegas. He is a guard.

Lee has already been contacted by Iowa St, Illinois, Marquette, Indiana, Louisville, Ohio St, Florida, FSU, USC, Miami, Pitt and NC State.

Teams are acting quick to get this kid.

Lee to OU sounds unlikely.

Being reported he has already heard from Louisville, Florida, FSU, Ohio State, Miami, USC, Iowa State, Illinois, Marquette, Indiana, Pitt.

Iowa st has become the king of transfers. Their entire team is transfers. How do they do it so well?

Anthony lee is down to 5 and we are not in there. Isu, theOSU, Louisville, IU, ND

As I posted elsewhere, there's a 7-0 guy at New Mexico, fourth-year junior Alex Kirk, who may be looking to transfer as a grad student. I'd hope that Kruger would take him in a heartbeat, if he really does want to leave UNM. But UCLA would be the most logical choice (Steve Alford recruited him to UNM out of Los Alamos, NM), although Norman is 250 miles closer to his hometown than LA is.

He was New Mexico's starting center not either of those monstrous brothers from New Mexico State. He is weighing his options, supposedly. Stay for his SR season, leave early for the draft, or transfer. No one knows if we would even be an option. If he transfers, I agree UCLA makes sense. There would be a lot of name schools after him.

oops. meant NMU.. my nmu friend would kill me for getting it wrong

I would imagine the school would block him from going to UCLA. Or are they not allowed to block transfers for 5th year guys?

Because Alford blatantly lied before bolting New Mexico, they aren't going to do him any favors.

They can't block 5th year transfers...kid will have already gone through graduation.

Personally, don't think Alex Kirk fits well with OU and Kruger. If I were him, would stay one more year at UNM, that is the best place for him right now.
