Osby and M'Baye from the floor. That Whithey dude can flatout change games...

If our guys can hit some outside shots in Norman, this will be a tough game for KU.

Yep. We play pretty good team defense. The next step is to get a big man that can do what Withey can do. We haven't had many over the years. Blake and Jabahri Brown are probably the last two.

If our guys play stronger inside like they did in the last 10 minutes we can hopefully make it a game in Norman. KU was basically coasting at that point but you gotta start with that type of energy and let them know it's gonna be a game.

Osby and M'Baye need to shoot more outside shots. And Osby needs to shoot more 3's. He's prolly one of our top 3 3pt shooters. He had several opportunities to shoot it and didn't take it and the one time he did...he made it.

I have more confidence in Osby shooting jump shots and 3pointers than everyone else on the team except for Pledger. He's not going to make every shot but nether does any other player.

Just back from the game...

1. Withey blocks led to too many easy transition buckets for them. Our guards have to be more careful taking it to the hole next time. That was the major difference in the game. Also a few too many unforced turnovers again.

2. We just missed too many shots - that happens sometimes and especially on the road. They have good athletes and strong inside presence and we did not get enough easy ones. We have to be better overall and Osby will need to play better against them in Norman.

3. I was pleased with our defense - just not enough offense to go along with it.

4. I didn't have any major issues with the officiating overall. Thought their were a few bad calls both ways and a few no-calls that could have gone the other way. Not saying the officiating was particularly good but didn't think it was one-sided.

5. I really like how our young guys are starting to play in hostile environments. They are starting to show some poise.

6. Can we win at Baylor and/or ISU? Can we get a home win vs KSU and/or KU? The possibilities are there but are we ready to take the needed steps?

Withey played a role in that but Osby missed at least 6-8 shots which he should have hit today, Withey or no Withey

Agree with the other poster, this is a fantastic post.

I would like to add I was a little disappointed early in Hield and Hornbeak's performance. I really thought they would look to score more early than they did, and I think that hurt us some. Our best basketball was late in the game when Buddy showed up. Maybe that bodes well for the return game in Norman, though.

I also agree with others that Withey was the major difference in the game. McLemore, IMO, was a non-issue on either end. This game was lost with us on offense. Not enough made baskets, too many turnovers, and both of those led to easy transition points for KU. That was the difference.

I was watching the game with the sound down and not giving it my complete attention (long story), but it seemed that every time I looked up KU was pounding home a breakaway slam.

Withey was good but I thought he got Osby with his body several times. Fran kept saying he was going straight up but that is not how I saw it. I saw contact and a player that was not set. To me it was a defensive foul but I really can't watch an OU very objectively because I am extremely biased in favor of OU.
