#9 OU vs #15 Tennessee 2pm 1/5

Gutsy win, but they tried their hardest to give the game away. Lead by 16 points at the start of the 4th win by 1. Bad look. The TOs need to get cut down MASSIVELY.

Better to win a game like this than to lose, but TOs have been a problem for Jennie's teams since she got here, meaning either she can't recruit good enough ball-handlers, or her offense is just too chaotic.
Yep… funny to see folks on here just overlook the facts.

Again, I look at it through analytical view.. prob not great but seeing what we could do if we’d cut the really careless TO’s down. Most TO’s are just really bad passes - angles, timing, etc. Things that can be changed.

The 3 that keys took under 2 min was a really poor choice. Again, that’s bball game awareness knowledge.

Very lucky to get the win, which is good but lots to work on.

I’m not sure coach has a solid half court offense orc sets. She’s a run and gun but sometimes ya need that half court offense. Need a better press breaker as well.

As I’ve said my sis played D1 and she is flabbergasted at the lack of basic skills (ball handling and passing in particular).

A win is a win… we got away with high TO’s tonight… didn’t against horns…, % will go against us eventually.

"...but they tried their hardest to give the game away" is a specious statement. Tell me which OU player was trying to give the game away?
I meant with all the turnovers. You are so lame. I never said an individual was, but as a team, the turnovers are a major, major problem. The fact you want to ignore it because I said it is so petty and 13 year old girl like.

I've noticed Msproudsooner is very aggressive at people that criticize any failures of the team during games. It's almost like she's the mom of one of the players? There's no need to target or come at people just because they are giving an opinion. It doesn't mean we are not fans. Obviously we are fans, we watch the games and we invest enough time to actually get on here and chat about what they can improve on and what they are doing well. Stop being such a bully. This is one of the reasons I laid off this specific forum for a while. Doesn't look like things have improved as much as I hope they would have in that aspect.

I'm old enough to be their grandparent but I'm not. I just have a very low tolerance for people who recognize faults but never acknowledge the good things these players do. If you don't care for my posts, you should probably block me as I have blocked a poster on the men's board. Makes no difference to me.

It will be a big win as long as UT continues to win. I can hear their fans this morning complaining about their press, when it works its good but we got an awful lot of easy layups when we broke it. And why take a 3, from one of your bigs, when you are only one point behind?
As far as Keys vs Joens, I think Lexy has better ball handling skills and arguably at least as good a shooter. She would I'm sure be the first to tell you that taking that shot was ill advised.
But all in all a great win

I joined this board in hopes of being part of a community to support Women's Basketball. The good teams in the country have massive boards for fan interaction. In lieu of supporting and building up the excitement for the women...we have a bunch of negative nancies that have the loudest voices on this board. We are a top 10 team in the country, we have a coach who is in her 4th season and exceeded expectations every year. This roster was not full of talent when she took over, yet they won 2 big 12 championships. Jennie has been a naismith coach of the year finalist twice, is the reigning Big 12 coach of the year and we were picked 4th in the toughest WBB conference in the country. We have 3 Quad 1 wins, and still, we have folks that want to complain about her offense and how they wish to run sets and say our girls can't dribble. Better yet, lets complain about the recruits...because prior to her getting here all the top recruits in the country wanted to be in Norman???

How about this...Yes, the turnovers sucked. Jennie said she hates them and is not happy about it. Is it easy to learn her offense, no. I'm glad too...because then i know its hard to defend. Against Texas they played so poorly, yet they were tied going into the 4th qtr and lost by 7. Imagine how it looks if they clean it up.

Last night they won in an arena that OU has never won at, in front of 11,000 fans to a team that hasn't lost this year. Yes, it was close...they were up 19 at one point but they WON the game. Clean up the bad passes and its not even close. Put the officials from this game in versus Texas and we win that game too.

I agree, if we can clean up the UNFORCED errors, such as passing to absolutely nobody, not coming to help Tot out when she's being pressed by 2+ people to bring the ball up the court, etc. then I think we can really hang in there with just about anybody. IMO, that's what makes the difference between NCAA tourney teams and teams that win several games while in the tournament - they don't play as sloppily and just beat themselves. I think this team has the ability to do so, and will probably get a bit better about silly errors, but my concern is if they can improve enough to make the elite eight, as was my hope when we landed Beers out of the portal. SEC is so tough, if you have an off night just about any team can beat you (except perhaps Arkansas), so I hope we clean things up sooner rather than later.

My “complaint” is… does coach actually talk about / work on those “unforced” TO’s… 4 yrs into her time and we are doing the same thing.

Do I support and am I impressed with the team… YES.

Again, with my back ground… I just see those little things that cost the team the horn game and ALMOST cost the vol game.

Honestly I have yet (not 100% sure) to see coach call a TO and chew some butt on those unbelievable stupid TO’s. As I’ve stated, it’s bad angles (high post to low post ft line to block straight line), timing, form… all things that are coachable.

I’ll continue to cheer and watch, hope they can clean those things up…

100% right

I love jennie’s style of play. But sometimes i wonder if she sees a difference between playing fast and kids playing in a hurry. Huge difference

Don’t know the stats but my perception is that we have improved our “judgment “ during the season under jb, so i am hopeful. One thing is for sure, the sec schedule will be a challenge and good teacher for our weaknesses. I bet it gets us really ready for the nvaa tourney

If you watched her show with Toby Rowland last night she talked about turnovers. 1). For the past 2 or 3 years passing the ball to a 'back to the basket' center wasn't a large part of our offense because we didn't really have a center and we aren't really good at it - yet. 2). Having a back to the basket center means we aren't making as many passes to cutting players which was our primary offense the past couple of years. That's another adjustment we are making.

On any given night in the SEC any team can challenge us. I believe our defense will also have to make improvements (which they steadily are, thankfully!) in order to avoid us losing games we shouldn't. MSU will be a tricky team - I watched their first half against South Carolina and they looked very, very good, so i'm not certain how they were blown out in the 2nd half. If we don't come to play, and play 'not to lose' as we did against UT in the 4th, it could be a very close game. We will see if our kids learned anything from the UT game, that's for sure!
