#9 OU vs Little Rock 6pm 12/11

We overmatched them, of course, but very nice win. Zya had a career high 19 points and was very smooth. After the game on the TV broadcast, Jennie said that there's all these stars on the team who are at the top of every opponent's scouting report, but Zya is the one that makes us go. When she starts the game like she did, she makes us incredibly hard for anyone to beat us.

The bench was great. Caya has turned into the sparkplug role off the bench that Zya was last year. Her shot is looking good too. She's really coming on.

Raegan had a 20 point double double without breaking a sweat.

Only 7 points from Peyton and Sahara combined. Sahara didn't even have a FGA until the 2nd half. They were clearly fine having this game be a learning/improvement moment for the underclassmen.

I think a good improvement over the last game. Overmatched team but they have sime talent. Beers totally dominant and a lot of our offense was getting the ball inside.
Only 14 turnovers but still to many from high risk passes. As I have said before Uconn, South Carolina, LSU and particularly Texas will not do that.
Brilliant offense by Chavez and Vann. Hit 16 of 19 shots between them with 39 total points, but only 3 assists abetween them. Both are skilled at getting open and getting good fundamental shots off in traffic. Both are good at mid range and with layups in traffic. My only concern is that bertween them they dominate the ball and two of out best players (Verhulst and Williams) only get 7 points and only 8 shots. I think we are still more of a one on one team than in earlier Baranczyk years. Don't know how that will lplay in tough SEC games.
Stewart and Smith showing good progress and Caya played 25 minutes, the most on the team.
Tough night for Lofton. 1 of 8 shooting. Forced too many layups. She is supposed to have a strong mid range game but I haven't seen it yet. Mostly treys an d drives to the basket and fast break layups. I think she is critical for depth and I hope she is ready for conference play. Love her defense.
I believe first Sooner field goal for Cassoko and abig celebation on the bench.

Great game by Zya and Aaliyah, I was really impressed with Caya and Brooklyn, the future looks bright for them
On a more sour note, does anyone know why we are playing so many 6 pm weeknight home games? Several more in our future- I assume some conference ones are for TV. Difficult for a north Edmond resident to get to game by then fighting going home traffic.

I think the TV networks dictate the times. I don't think any school in the Central time zone would pick 6:00 because it's too early for people who don't get off work until 5:00 or 5:30.

Was tonight on TV? Don't know, I was attending. With several hundred of my Sooner friends. It definitely hurts attendance.

That’s what they’re asking Lofton to do according to her mom. Drive and defense. Big adjustment and completely different role than what she’s used to.

Beers had 4 fouls against a mid level team. Can't have her getting into foul trouble in SEC games on a consistent basis.
Think teams will attack her to try and get her off the court and diminish what OU can do without her.

I have never watched her play, but she appears to have the gifts be an elite defender! Honestly, her shot doesn’t look great to me. Maybe it’s better in the midrange than 3 but it just looks awkward. She has the length and athleticism to be he a slashing guard

I was expecting Lofton to be a bit better offensively, but it's still early. She could need a year to adjust, since last year she was out due to injury mostly it's been a minute since she played. She's def a good defender, I think all 3 of the freshmen are!

Agree. Think it will take a bit to get her confidence back. And probably the mental side after a gross injury.

I agree. I'm a tad disappointed with how little Culliton has developed over her career. I thought she'd have more of a back to the basket game by now, but maybe she's just not as motivated? Without Beers on the court she and Stewart will really have to step up during SEC play. It's going to be another brutal SEC season, all of the teams look good!
