No matter how this season turns out, it's one that I will look back on and remember how good it has made me feel.

We all suffered through two straight seasons of problems on and off of the court that left us scratching our heads at times. We sat helplessly by as we watched our favorite team underachieve and end any chance of playing in the post season, long before the season was over. I don't know about you, but I never want to go through that again.

It's different this year. This is a together team with good players, and even better young men who represent the university in a way that should make all of us proud. There are no rumors of dissension in the ranks or embarrassing reports of problems off of the court. These kids just want to play basketball and continue to get better as they go. It feels good to watch them grow as a TEAM, free of the selfish, self-centered, half-hearted effort we have seen in the past. It feels good to read positive articles, editorials and blogs every day.

I'll end this the way I started. No matter how this season turns out, I love this team because they make me feel good about the direction our program is headed now.

I agree with you about the team and love how the young guys don't let mistakes get them down. Hornbeak hits clutch FTs after some bad turnovers, Hield hits clutch shots after some bad defense, etc.

The season could definitely still end in a way that makes me feel bad (see last year) but I don't think that is going to happen. We may well lose a few that I think we should win but I don't think I will be disappointed with effort.

I think next year or the year after will be even better. Especially when these young pups grow up.

I'm pretty excited about two years from now. We'll need to pick up a couple of good players between now and then, but a roster of the following looks to be a very good start:

Woodard - SO
Hornbeak - JR
Hield - JR
Cousins - JR
Spangler - JR
Elliott - SR
Hamilton - SR
Bennett - SR
Hammond - FR
Cole - SO

There is some talent and experience with that group.
