? about the Sooners

OU needs a legit point guard and then they will be a lot better. Losing Osby next year hurts, bad, but hopefully Spangler/Bennett help make up that loss. I am sure OU will feature M'Baye more with Osby out, so they just need Spangler/Bennett to be solid.

We have a legit PG on the way. We'll be just fine next season. Like WT said about as good but not better than this years team.

I think your putting a lot on this kid way to fast. He may not even beat out Hornbeak or Cousins next year. His potential is high but his immediate impact is not.

I'm not saying he is going to be a star or all-conference. However he is a true legit lead guard, which we do not currently have. Isiah and Jelon are combo guards. I don't expect him to be a star but I do expect him to start and I think that is fair. I promise you he expects to come in and start.

I do agree that he is a true point guard and that he expects to start. I will say that Hornbeak and Cousins both beat out a true Senior PG this season so I just don't think that he will start just b/c he is a true PG.

He won't start because he is a true PG. He'll start because PG is our biggest need going into next season. He brings so much to the table. His combo of ball handling, penetrating, and shooting from that position are parts of the game we are missing right now.

Well I have to disagree with you that our biggest need is our PG. We don't have a decent 3pt shooter on our roster.

We have a really good PG signed. No shooters signed. Coach seems to disagree with your assessment of our needs in 2013-14.

I know Randle would be a huge get. But, I wonder if getting a point guard would be even better. Yes, Woodard is good. But getting one of the best JC point guards might just be the best thing we could do for next year. Get a bit of experience to go with M'Baye, Hield, Clark, and Spangler could make a lot of difference. Not that Jeron is chopped liver. But he is still learning. I would feel a lot better about next year if there was a replavement for Grooms, but one that could hit some outside shots.

Nobody we get this late that we aren't already in on (Randle and/or Henry) will have any impact on next years team.

This is the 2nd statememt that you have made in two days that exposes you to the liability of looking terribly mis-informed. I can hardly wait to see what comes tomorrow.

Enlighten me, Gary.

You expressed doubts that OU would be a better team next year.

I think there is a chance we could be significantly better but I don't know anything about these JC bigs and, honestly, I wish we had another 6-4 or 6-5 wing shooter. You surprise me Gary. I thought we were kind of on the same page about next year.

I think that they will be better. I also think the take a step backwards crowd is way way out in left field somewhere.

Lon Kruger isn't a take a step back kind of coach. He has the defense and effort issues fixed. Next year, with a true PG and better rebounding via Spangler and more athletic size, hopefully the offense will be noticeably better.

I think, even in light of our seniors graduating, that our offense can be better next year. Not phenomenally better, but more productive. Simply, I think our personnel will allow us to score more off the dribble, which is a trait of Lon's offense when he has his way. Losing Pledger obviously hurts us from outside, and Romero's offense is difficult to replace, but the game against KU highlighted how tough it is for our players to get high-percentage shots inside against athletic competition. We drew fouls, but settles for to many long 2-pt jumpers - the least efficient shots in basketball, period - and without a strong two-way game from Bird and Fitz, it hurt Lon's flexibility in playing matchups (not that we had obvious answers for McLemore, Whithey, or Johnson, but still). M'baye isn't a prototypical post-up big, but his ability to put the ball on the deck will mesh well with an offense geared to dribble penetration. If any of the Hornbeak / Hield / Cousins trio gets hot shooting 3pters next year, and Woodard can command at least 6th man-type minutes, I think we'll get easier baskets on the whole. Plus extra post depth will keep Cam from needing to play defense on 6'8/240 guys.

While we lose a lot of good inside guys next year our three freshmen will be better and M'Baye is getting better every game. I also like what I saw from Spangler at Zaga. We don't have a defender/rebounder like him inside. Buddy/Hornbeak/Cousins/M'Baye in year 2 will make up for our losses.

I hate to think this season is indicative of Cousins shooting ability. I have to think with a little work in the gym and some confidence, he will be a viable scoring option outside next season. After seeing the work the coaching staff did with Cam, I expect to see Cousins start to knock some shots down.

What did you see from Spangler???He had one good game. Hell, everyone on our roster has had one good game. He averaged 5mpg and 2 pts last season. If he was on there team this year, he would be averaging about the same.

We are not going to be better next year. We are losing Osby and replacing him with no one!!! M'Baye isn't even better than Osby of last season. We are bringing in a bunch of juco post players that wouldn't start for any big 12 team. If a post player can't average over 14ppg in juco...they aren't going to contribute much scoring in Div 1 where there are legit post players guarding them.

Ya'll need to listen to bgrch. After all, look at his predictions about playing the 3 freshmen worked out. :facepalm
