Donald Sloan is averaging 18 a game for a team tied for 2nd in the conference, he needs to be on there somewhere.

James will also be higher than 3rd team based on his name recognition alone.

I just started a thread about that, lol.... If you lined up TMG, Tweety, Sloan, and Collins I would take all of them over Sloan, but Sloan is having a great year and winning.

He is probably the most underrated player in the conference.

Remember they pick the teams based on the best players not to fit positions.
Last years All Big 12 team was Blake, Brackins, Aldrich, Collins and some other forward that his name escapes me right now (might be Damion James).

I know how they do it. I disagree with that system. :)

Cole Aldrich will be 1st Team no matter what happens. It is the sad truth. Udoh is good, but he started way too far behind Cole.

Im not sure Aldrich does something on a basketball court better than Udoh.

Found last year's coach team's
1st team is 4 forwards and a guard (Carrol from Mizzou is who I left out)
2nd team is 4 guards and a forward (Clemente, Warren, Anderson, Abrams and Traitor)
3rd team is the first somewhat traditionaly team but even it has 6 guys.
(Jerrels, Higgins, Lyons, Dagunduro, Eaton, and Josh Carter)

Picking his nose through a Rip Hamilton mask, I know fatty still has a picture or video of that somewhere.

Aldrich is the best player in the big 12 in my book. My first team would have aldrich, collins, D. James, Brackens and Anderson. Player of the year = Aldrich. freshman of the year = TMG.

Couldn't disagree more. Aldrich is a solid player and I agree with what Bob Knight said: he is one of the most "effective" players in the country....and I think alot of that has to do with his surrounding cast. He complements them and they complement him. But the best?...not even close. He's not even the best player on his own team. The best player in the conference is...gasp...James Anderson....and I don't think it's close. He is a one-man team...the guy does everthing. But he won't win POY because his team is average. I think the award will either go to Collins or Dunn.

Everyone has a right to their opinion. If the big 12 had a draft tomorrow and the teams were going to be reconfigured and I had the first pick, I would take Aldrich. 7 foot guys that can think and play just don't come along very often, at least not in college anyway.

Aldrich totally dominated Texas last night, blocks, shots intimidated and rebounds. He has been the dominate factor in every Kansas game I have watched this year. I'm not saying he is Bill Walton, but he is the 800 pd gorilla in the room every game.

Anderson is a good player, I just don't think he is as dominate or valuable as Aldrich. To each his own.

I think TMG is playing better than Collins. The only statistical categories led by Collins (and not by much), assists and assists to turn over ratio and free throw percentage. If the OU guys were not missing so many easy assist opportunities, Mason-Griffin would be leading in that category too.

I think you are correct that Collins will get first team but I am not sure there is a legitimate basis other than Collins be a senior.

This is like the argument last year where people claimed Hasheem Thabeet was not worthy of accolades. Think of it this way, Aldrich has his offensive numbers which are pretty good considering how much talent he has around him. Reed, Taylor, Collins, Henry, Morris twins are all taking shots throughout the game.

For someone like Cole, you have to consider how many shots he doesn't allow in a game. Blocks, alterations, having a seven footer in the lane deters a lot of drives to the basket. Good free throw shooter, decent (yet ugly) shot from the elbow.

Anderson is real good, but Balbay shut him down the second half, by himself...give credit to Barnes for Anderson going off in the first half.

Aldrich has to go somewhere on the 1st team. The impact on defense speaks for itself. He's the best defender in the post in the country, IMO.

Can't stand the guy, but he's 1st team All Big 12.

Pullen probably deserves to be on the 1st team over Dunn. I'm a huge fan of Dunn but I would give the nod to Pullen based on his head to head performance against Dunn where Jacob destroyed him in Waco.

Udoh and Aldrich played each other to a draw in their matchup. I would take Aldrich but that is mainly due to not having seen Udoh enough. I don't have a problem with anyone taking Udoh over Aldrich at this point. I do think that Aldrich is getting underrated due to the nature of KU's team this year.

TMG is playing better than Collins when WW is pretty much out of the lineup and he gets to control the game and shoot whenever he wants to. Kind of like J'Covan Brown, when he's able to just come down and play one on one and shoot the ball every time he's difficult to stop but those aren't winning basketball plays. I'm not saying that's even close to what TMG is doing but he is playing much better as the #1 option. The way he is shooting the ball is incredible, though, so I would give him the green light as well.

Collins is in the same position as Aldrich in adjusting to taking different shots at different times in the game and it is more difficult to find a groove than it was last year when he was option 1 and 2. :)

I think TMG definitely deserves consideration for 1st or 2nd team, he is playing outstanding basketball right now.

The craziest thing is I think Marcus Morris is the POY in the conference right now. The kid has turned into such an effective player offensively and defensively.
