First Herb Sendek reference I've seen. FWIW, I'd probably hang myself if he's the hire.

• Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione has a tough task ahead of him. Potential NCAA sanctions loom over the program, although the Sooners are banking on the issues being secondary in nature, which would result in scholarship reductions and no institutional control issues. The Sooners are looking everywhere and won't hesitate to send out feelers to see if current head coaches are willing to leave good jobs (think Tubby Smith going from Kentucky to Minnesota or Herb Sendek from NC State to Arizona State). Buzz Williams makes the most sense here.

to be fair, i don't think andy meant it as herb to ou... he was just giving an example of a current coach leaving his program for another....

I don't think he's putting Sendek as a candidate, but using him as an example of a coach who has a good job and is willing to make a lateral move or maybe even step down like Sendek and Tubby both obviously did.

I hear you. Just sayin though. :D

Don't think he's saying Herb Sendek is a candidate for the OU job, if you read it again, but I agree with your sentiments.

edit: or, what a million people ahead of me said

I didn't get the feeling it was indicating Sendek was a candidate. I thought they were just talking about situation when he went from NC State to ASU...if I recall he was still employed at NC State when he left. Thus a candidate making a move who wasn't necessarily out of a job....like Buzz Williams.

I don't believe he was saying Sendek is a potential canidate, just giving examples of coaches making lateral or even backwards moves.

Why would he leave the place he played ball at, was an assistant at, and is now HC

He won't leave, but he'd double his salary and would become a millionaire.

xavier will do everything they can to keep their guy. i'm sure they are tired of being a stepping-stone.

I don't think he meant Herb Sendek to OU; I think he was describing a Herb Sendek like lateral move from a major basketball school to OU...

Well, I'm glad we got that matter cleared up.

What's this I hear about Herb Sendak being hired as Capel's replacement?
