The fourth of this year's in-state top 50 players, Otto Porter (31 on ESPN's final rankings, likely top 30 when rivals updates theirs; playing in the Jordan game this weekend) committed to Georgetown. He was supposed to be a Mizzou lock who was turning teams away because he wasn't going to go more than a few hours from home...

Is he the small school kid who was mentioned on here a few months back?

Who was responsible for such a horrible hiring?

I'm not sure it has anything to do with who Mizzou hired so much as it's that he doesn't have a relationship with the coach. At Georgetown he'll be playing for a guy his dad has known for 20 years (an assistant there went to the same juco).

Kind of like what happened when Kelvin left and Capel was hired. Both Reynolds and James who were already signed to come to OU decided to go elsewhere. Probably not so much because of who was named coach but the fact they didn't have a relationship with him prior.

It's a bigger kick in the nuts for Mizzou though because Porter was an in-state prospect...

How? all he did was call the kid, which is allowed, and say he wont be a Tiger, which i believe is also allowed

I don't think you are supposed to comment publicly on an unsigned prospect.

for some reason mu has never recruited the state well - even when norm was there. if they would just get a kc and st louise kid each year theyd be fine.

Nope.
Not allowed to comment on unsigned prospects.
Kruger can't even comment on Grooms until OU receives his signed letter tomorrow.

Why is this a kick in the balls? Missouri has only had 2 4 star recruits in the past 5 years. Not landing a 4 star recruit is par for the course.

You are allowed to comment only to confirm/deny that you are recruiting a player. Haith didn't really go much beyond doing just that.

KCRuf/Nek, a big part of why a lot of talent has left Missouri in the past is due to a rocky relationship between Norm and influential people in St. Louis. It's one of the most segregated big cities in the US and I don't believe Norm had a great reputation in certain parts of it. St. Louis being the largest talent pool in the state, it's cost Mizzou a lot of talented players over the years.

Is Missouri still trying to take their ball and go home to the Big Ten?
