Below is the portion of an Athletic article today where they do an insanely early NCAA tournament projection. They have OU solidly in the "should be in" category. This shows again how beneficial tough, smart schedules are, even though they cause some fans to fear a dismal noncon record.
Oklahoma (12-2, 1-1 – NET: 18, SOS: 2): We still haven’t forgiven Oklahoma for last season’s existential Bubble Watch trauma. Those wounds are still fresh. But hey, good on the Sooners: The post-Tre Young era appears as promising as the schedule is robust. Lon Kruger’s team has notched just one Q1 win, but it has amassed seven Q2 victories — more than many bubble teams will have by the time the season is over. Oklahoma hasn’t played a single cupcake Q4 opponent, and it won’t find any in the Big 12. The committee almost always grants tough schedulers the benefit of the doubt. Oklahoma’s in great shape already.
