or do you think he will be going overseas? Either way, I see a decent payday coming Romero's way...

If he surprises in Chicago in terms of athleticism or in terms of dominating performances, then I think he can go mid to late second. He is, after all, a first team All big 12 player.

However, it is more likely he makes a preseason roster and is cut a la Taylor Griffin.

Sure, he has a chance to get drafted. Even if he doesn't get drafted he has a chance to make a team. Najera had a great career in the NBA considering he was a low or no draft choice (can't remember).

Osby just needs a chance to show what he can do and if he gets that chance anything is possible.

I think what gives him a chance is his ability to knock it down from 20 feet and in. If he couldn't do that he would have no chance. I'm certainly rooting for him. He seems like an all-around nice guy.

Najera got drafted in the 2nd round (midway through I believe).

taylor griffin made the suns and was not cut his entire rookie year

playing in an international professional basketball league isn't exactly the worst way for a man in his early 20's to earn a living.

to go brainless man but also reality for a minute....they have supermodels in Italy or France or Israel who want to date a basketball player. maybe you find love, too? a great way to spend your youth...playing basketball. you need some plans for the moneys...but, still.

NBA great, reality is pretty good. take care of your money.

you go Romero. great Sooner. you bridged us fans through a tough time.

lot of respect here.

Taylor is still earning some money playing for the D League, Santa Cruz Warriors. I have watched him play three or four times in the last couple of months.

I hope Romero lands with the right NBA team where he will have the opportunity to make a roster and earn some decent money right away. If that doesn't happen, the Development League may be an option he would consider, at least on a temporary basis.

I read somewhere that D League players earn between $12,000 and $30,000 annually, plus room and some board. Romero, or any family man for that matter, would struggle to support his wife and daughter on the low end of that range for the long haul. But if your lifelong dream is to play in the NBA, I could see him going that route for a time to make the best of fulfilling his dream. Playing overseas is not all that bad either. A number of former Sooners have, and still are, earned a very nice living playing in foreign countries.
