Well, firstly, a team has to qualify for the playoffs. Secondly, how a team is seeded in the playoffs has something to do with how a team fares in the playoffs. RPI and rankings has something to do with all of that.

Past that, I don't care much either.

AP poll has nothing to do with a team's seed in the tournament.

Everything has something to do with how teams are seeded. It is a subjective judgement call by a committee.
