Ask Sherri Coale how...

Simple: Hire a damn coach that knows how to recruit and coach.

Coale: Took over a program at rock-bottom (or close) and takes them to the top (or close).

Capel: Took over a program at the top (or close) and takes them to rock-bottom (or close).

That's all you need to know. Fans aren't going to watch an untalented, losing team. To think otherwise, is just dumb. And those holier than thou fans that think I should support Capel, bite me.

Here's an idea and it's a very sad (and dumb) idea...make the women and men play on the same day, only make the men's game first and the women's game second. Turn the women's fans into men's fans.....The LNC is rocking tonight while it was rockchalking yesterday.

You can't get people to come to basketball games, it's a football school.
You cant' get people to show up on Sunday evenings, their kids have school tomorrow.
etc, etc. you know all the excuses.

The truth is if you put a good product on the floor people will come and watch you play!

And, I will take it one step further. After watching that womens game, it's obvious the LNC is a good basketball arena.

The problem is not the arena...it's the product on the floor.

The average home attendance for the women this season: 5071

The average home attendance for the men this season: 8465

The women should never draw more than the men, but I wonder what the averages would be if you removed the 2 free games for the men, and subtracted 4k KU fans from yesterday.

I can't remember the women having free games, but maybe I'm wrong.

I will also add the ticket policy is different for women and men and that effects the men more.

you fill the LNC??

Win?

And bring a new product to OU. OU having a strong women's hoops team is something new. That helps. But winning in general is the biggest draw. Goes for any sport.

The stats posted earlier are bs.

This has been discussed before, but there is some difference between OU Women's Basketball fans and OU Men's Basketball fans (in fact, there are those in Oklahoma who just follow the Women's game and not the Men's game, and vice-versa as well). Historically, Oklahoma is a HOTBED for the girls game as I'm sure a lot of you already know, and I think a lot of that fan interest carries over into the collegiate ranks. The general women's B-ball fan (of course this is unscientific and just based on friends, family, and people I've met over the years while at OU, living in Norman, and living in OKC) also tends to be more "die-hard" about the OU women's squad than the counterpart men's fans over the years *in my experience*.

Of course, MANY of us follow both closely and I'm not necessarily talking about those folks. And the Men's product this year has left much to be desired. But the difference b/w men's attendance and women's attendance is a lot more nuanced than "the guy's suck this year and the women don't"--although I can certainly understand that sentiment :)

Just adding my 2 cents. Feel free to disagree.

Also, remember we were playing Baylor today which is almost as significant as us playing osux (and not just b/c they're number 3 in the country now, but there's a significant recent history b/w the two squads in conference).

Those attendance numbers for the men are way off. That would mean the building was 2/3 full for nearly every game. We truly probably have only had 8000+ actually in the seats for Baylor (free), Texas (free), and KU.

Also there is such a huge difference in the cost of a men's and women's season ticket that the women have built a larger following of hardcore fans who can actually afford to bring a family of 4-6 to game after game. And yes I know the men do special deals, but the fact is the women have grown their product on the floor and in the seats without charging $60 for "premium" games.
