Trying to legally block A&M from leaving them. Of course they had no problem with A&M and Texas leaving Houston, SMU, TCU and Rice when they were able to tag along to the Big XII.

Do you have to make snide political/religious comments everytime you post?

What's funny is Baylor was not even in the original Big 12 until Gov. Richards (Baylor grad) stepped in and used her power to get Baylor in at the expense of SMU.

It was not Ann Richards. It was Bullock, Lt Gov, that was most instrumental. In an interview with Ann, she was asked about her role in that and she laughed and stated she had absolutely nothing to do with getting Baylor included in Big 12.

It isn't just Baylor, and it isn't about A&M. It's about OU.

Waco Tribune said:
Baylor was among six Big 12 schools that will not sign a waiver to allow Texas A&M to go to the Southeastern Conference following a meeting of the Big 12 presidents Wednesday afternoon, a source close to Baylor told the Tribune-Herald.

The other schools were Kansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech, Iowa State and Missouri.

If Oklahoma reaffirms its commitment to the Big 12, the schools are expected to sign the waiver that would allow the Aggies to go to the SEC without any legal action. The Sooners, who are reportedly considering a move to the Pac-12, are expected to make their decision within the next two weeks.

I'm really no expert on any of this, so I can't guess how Boren or Joe C will act, but frankly it makes me want to leave more. Oklahoma didn't put the Big 12 in this position. For these other schools to blackmail OU is infuriating. I accept they're acting in their best interests, but I can't imagine trusting them from here on out.

Exactly. Why should we have to put up with this nonsense? Even if I had any shred of desire to maybe keep the Big 12/whatever the F* together or try to save it for the future, the BS displayed by multiple schools at this juncture would have obliterated any sense of nostalgia or desire to salvage it. At this point, I hope we get the hell out of this sinking ship when we can. Can you imagine a duct-tape version of the Big XII-II/III in a year a two? The mistrust and lack of faith between the schools at that time? The sore emotions and ill feelings amongst the different school administrations? All seperate from just the POS that is Texas doing its best to wield its weight around?

No thank you. This isn't some rinky-dink popcicle stand this is The University of Oklahoma and I pray we get out while the getting is good.

No kidding. This is hypocrisy defined.

tycat is right- Bullock was a key player in helping Baylor get to the Big 12. Richards had nothing to do with it. That was an old wives tale. Also the SWC dissolved. Apples to oranges. This is a situation where one member breached a contract. A contract that schools like Baylor, ISU, KSU, KU, etc... count on to put budgets in place for years into the future.

Why would any of those schools give up the right to sue? That would be idiotic. Fortunately for Baylor, they have a President- Judge Starr- who is well versed in the law.

The big12 will hold. There will be equal revenue sharing for all rights except third tier. So a little socialism and capitalism to please everyone. BYU will replace the breaching member. And the Red River Shootout will continue. And most importantly the best hoops conference outside the 43 teams in the Big East or however many there are will remain intact.

FWIW, I've read that Mizzou didn't sign the waiver simply because our chancellor doesn't have the authority to waive the University's right to sue. That's a Board of Curators issue, and they haven't met since the whole thing about suing the SEC was brought up.

This conference is beyond the point of being salvageable.

This conference is so miserable. Get out at any cost.
