This is a warning from the NCAA Basketball Tournament Selection Committee. You are trending downward quickly and have fallen out of the top 25 polls. Further losses may result in severely damaging or terminating your hopes to play in the tournament. Take action now to avoid further damage to your tournament hopes. It is recommended you protect your home court with victories the rest of the season and steal a couple of wins on the road to avoid destruction. Failure to take action now will result in missing the tournament and scheduling after selection day press conferences to whine about not heeding the warnings. Please consider yourself warned and advised. Stay with us and we will keep you advised!!

Moser is a buffoon. There were multiple times during that game on Wednesday where the lead was slipping, and he just looked like he was losing brain cells by the second.

Too funny. The problem PM has now is that he’s gonna have to win enough to get off the dreaded bubble. It has been bantered that our OOC schedule was, how do we say, freaking awful!! So if we get on the bubble again IMO we got no shot….again!!

The latest update. Is this encouraging given how bad we have started we are still in or discouraging because our trend is downward?

The latter. We were a 5 seed in his projections coming into conference play. We have used up our entire margin for error in two weeks, and have yet to play Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, and Kentucky, who are four of the five best teams in the league. If we get a new roster or coach for the rest of the season and could actually expect to win a fair amount of our remaining games, I guess it could be a positive, but otherwise, it is a definite negative.

The way I think of it -- if I were spotted a one-lap lead over you in a mile race, and by the time we get to the last lap, you are already within a stride of me, there is no way I could feel good that I still have the lead.

The margin for error is gone after blowing those 2 home games. Going to have to go 7-6 the rest of the way or we are in trouble again.

I could see a scenario where 6-7 could do it if those 6 wins included two or three wins over the top few teams in the league, because we do have the three nice noncon wins, unlike last season. But the chances of us winning 6 more games are slim to none, so this is likely an academic exercise.

Let's also not forget we will have an opportunity to win a game or games in the SEC tournament.

and it took close to historic bid thieves to keep OU out last season
Because of the portal, I think we could potentially see more of this "bid stealing" moving forward. Specifically, there are teams with talent that "underperform" and then find a groove late in the season (or even in the conference tournament). I'm hoping last year was a one-off, but it wouldn't surprise me if it became more of a trend. It's becoming more important that you solidify yourself before the conference tournaments roll around....and also, win a freaking game or two in the conference tournament damnit.
