Best dunker in OU basketball history?

I was on a ski trip, watching it with my dad. I think Dook led by 20, and Vitale had basically called it "over" at that point. Boy, did he almost look really stupid after Hamilton led OU all the way back to tie.

In fact, I think Hamilton stole the ball from Hurley at half-court at the end of regulation. I think Dookie V would have falled on a sword had Hamilton made his desperation heave at the end of regulation.

And, that dunk during OU's rally was incredible, BTW.

Dickie V was saying "Start the bus, Billy...start the bus" when we were down double-digits and the Cameron Crazy's were going nuts.

Then we started to come back and I believe the dunk by Hamilton tied the game. If Hamilton had made the shot from the side hash on the last play of the game (after the steal from Hurley) we would have won that game.

That team also won at KU which is OU's last win in Lawrence, I believe. They only had 1 loss going into the Duke game but collapsed after that. Ended up in the NIT but had they not collapsed would have made some noise in the NCAA.

The best dunk I've ever seen in the LNC, bar none, was by Jason Detrick against Central Connecticut State in the first game of the 2002 season. He drove the baseline and threw it down over the top of some poor dude with EXTREME prejudice. It was gorgeous.

The second best dunk is the first full play you see on the '88 highlight tape. King blocks a shot and rifles the carom, one-handed, up the floor to Blaylock. Blaylock corrals the ball behind his back, I **** you not, and kinda flicks it to his left hand. Once under control, he feeds it to a streaking Tony Martin who's roaring into the lane. Some clown from Missouri tries to take a charge and gets totally tea-bagged. Full blown destruction. You get a glance at the OU bench as Martin does the cabbage patch above the poor Mizzou clown and you can see the whole group has formed some sort of patchwork conga line in celebration of the dunk (assistants included). You've got to see it. It's fantastic.
The best dunkers:

Calvin Pierce
Shawn Clark
Andre Wiley
Mike Bell
Angelo Hamilton
Taylor Griffin
Blake Griffin

That dunk was incredible and the cabbage patch afterward was awesome. I remember it like it was yesterday.

Blake followed by Skeeter (his throwdown vs KU in the Big 8 tourney 1990 was fantastic); Patillo in his brief run last year had some great dunks as well

Is there no video of the Alexander Hamilton dunk against Duke?

I always thought Jahbari Brown could really throw it down. Of course, he was apparently just really good at getting high....

What? Too soon?

I remember him saying start the bus, made me so angry.

Andrew Fitzgerald belongs on the list, right?

Detrick dunk was definitely memorable.

Haha.....that was awesome.

Thanks for the link 04.

Haven't seen Damon Patterson's name mentioned. Slim was very athletic and had some great dunks.

Kenneth Conley also had some wonderful power dunks.

About everyone has been named... Don Gandy could rise, and the Vann kid who's 1st name I can't remember. There were 1000 of the Vann boys, and most played college football. I believe it was Bryatt. There was also Bruce, Bryce, Brento, and one other brother. Their entire family from dad on down at least played college sports.....

It was Bryatt. He was the man

Thanks!! I use to play against him when he was in middle school. I played with Bruce and Brento on a city league team, and Bryatt always came to the gym with them. He was dunking easily in the 7th grade.

Those Vann boys were tough. We usually left the gym fighting.:woot

They had an older brother who went to prison early in his life. He joined our team when he came home. They say he may have been the best athlete/football player besides their father who played in the NFL I believe...

I had a summer job for a couple of years umpiring little league baseball games at PCO in OKC, two of the Vann brothers umped there, Brento was one for sure...can't remember who the other one was.

Jackie Jones - 1990 NCAA Tournament baseline dunk on Rick Fox - it was awesome.

Angelo Hamilton - 360 at Duke. I thought Dick Vitale was going to cry.

Kevin Bookout - his one and only dunk against OSU. (this one is a joke)

Austin Johnson dunk against aTm as a sophomore or junior [can't remember], but it was a home game. Alley oop that came out of nowhere, it was sick becuase it was friggin explosive, but also completely unexpected. Too bad the kid had injuries, becuase his HS tape showed a completely different type of player.
