Big 12 Predictions

1) Kansas
2) Baylor
3) Kansas
4) West Virginia
5) Oklahoma
6) Kansas State
7) Oklahoma State
8) Iowa State
9) Texas Tech
10) TCU

Kansas is good but they aren't good enough to finish 1st and 3rd. Lol...

OSU's fifth player is Brian Williams. I think he is on par with Cam and Fitz. The OU players have an advantage in scoring, but I think Williams is a better defender.

You better hope they find a way to use him off the bench or they will only have 5 players...

Is he going to be available and is he recovered from his injury? At best, a role player...

I don't think they have heard back from the NCAA, but there was a similiar case that the NCAA ruled in favor of the player. I believe he played during the spain trip.

I don't have a good feeling about him playing. If he does, I would start him at the 4 and move Nash to the 3. Williams could then be the 6th man, a better role for him.

I think all of your statements are fair. As I said, I'm really looking forward to the M'Baye - Nash match-up. Two NBA level talents going at it, but I would agree with you that based on what we've "seen" you'd probably have to give the edge to Nash, glad OU has another guy to at least make it interesting.

Propoke, you would take "Brown's scoring over Pledger's shooting"?

As Pledger not only averaged more points but had higher percentages in FG, 3 point, and free throw this makes little to no sense. Especially when you consider that Pledger was the focal point of every opposing defense with no other outside help. While Brown was the focus after teams made game plans for Page and then made a game plan for Nash.

I don't disagree with what you are saying, but I'm going to give it up to Page for a minute. The guy did quite a bit with out a heck of a lot. Kudos to him.

Don't understand why everyone is so high on O-State. They have about 3 guys who can really play and a bunch of freshmen and role players/garbage. Enlighten me...

I think people like Nash, Smart, Olukemi, Brown, Williams, Jurrick and Cobbins as a pretty solid rotation of players. They need another post player but they will be strong on the perimeter. If another post player steps up they should be solid.

But good enough to finish in the top 4 of this conference? Don't see it...

I was meaning, I like Browns entire game compared to Plegers shooting. I wasn't trying to say Brown is a better scorer. Just that he is a good scorer along with a really good defender and rebounder. He can also slide over and play a little point.

Pretty wide open league this year 2-8 imo. I am banking on OU's experience combined with Kruger's coaching, MBaye, and a talent infusion that will add depth - add all that up and I think the Sooners surprise much like Mizzou did last season...

I'm not as high on OSU as some mainly because of their lack of size and depth in the post. I think they will get dominated on the glass and drop a few games that they could have won otherwise.

I agree except I think 3-8 is wide open. I think KU and Baylor are clearly the top 2 squads and TCU and Tech are clearly the bottom 2.

I meant 3-8 and I agree that Baylor and Kansas are clearly a cut above.

This may be the strongest middle/lower middle league that the Big 12 has had in several years.

Did drew get replaced? Or is Acy, miller and jones back?

Excellent front court size, strength and depth. Best PG in the league. Deadly 3 point shooter.

I don't think its a huge gap (certainly not as big as the one on the bottom end of the conference with TCU and Tech) but I do think Baylor and Kansas are the top two teams.

Very talented roster, long and athletic. One of the top recruiting classes in the country and the best backcourt in the conference. Their little PG was picked preseason Conf POY.

tough call as most have mentioned. I will go with

1. KU
2. Baylor
3. Texas
4. OSU
5. WVU
6. OU
7. KSU
8.ISU
9.TCU
10. Tech

I agree that the edge for the top two spots should go to KU and Baylor. The next five will be a dogfight from start to finish.

I think OU will be very competitive for a spot in the top half of the conference. I also think that this year's team is going to surprise a few people, mainly due to to what I see as a vast improvement in our depth. M'Baye will be a difference-maker, too. But quality depth, which was practically non-existent last year, will be the key to our success.

I'm the biggest Baylor homer around but I don't know why you all are saying Baylor is a cut above the other teams. Baylor has potentially a great offensive backcourt but defensively it is suspect outside of Walton (a great defender with no offense). The guards that are great offensive players (Jackson and Heslip) are suspect defenders. The guards that are good defenders are suspect offensive players (Bello and Walton).

From all reports, Isaiah Austin is everything Baylor wished Perry Jones and Quincy Miller would be. Talented; good on both ends; plays with an edge. But he's a freshman. Ricardo Gathers is very strong and a good athlete but his shooting touch is rough from outside. He's probably a Quincy Acy type player as Quincy was as an underclassman. Cory Jefferson has the skill set but it is all talk and no production so far. We will see on him.

I think Baylor is being overrated based on making the Elite 8 last year and having a good offensive backcourt returning. I would not be shocked to see them finish 8th, 2nd or somewhere in the middle. On paper, I could definitely make the argument that OU, OSU, Texas, KSU and WVU have less question marks and proven production coming back.

I see it like this. And I would be thrilled if anyone other than Kansas wins. Time for them to get a dose of humility.

1. Kansas

2-8: Baylor, OSU, OU, Texas, WVU, ISU, KSU (in no particular order)

9-10: TCU and Texas Tech

I think Baylor has the best collection of basketball talent in the conference. I'm almost to the point of thinking Drew isn't cheating but is really just that good of a coach and recruiter. We'll see. They are young and fairly unproven up front. I just really like Jackson and Heslip and they can really get after people with length and athleticism.
