Big 12 Preseason Poll

I think we'll be a pretty solid team defensively this year but offensively will be rough. Hopefully we win enough to get into the NCAA but we'll probably be an NIT type team. Around 5-8 in the conference is about right. I do think the league overall will be a bit down compared to the last few years because Baylor lost a ton and OSU lost the number 1 pick Winning around 17-20 would be a really solid season IMO. I know a lot of people have higher expectations than that but first year in a new system with essentially a new roster and not a lot of proven scorers. My expectations are tempered. There is some potential on the roster though.

Until I have seen the kids play I will reserve judgment. However we might or could turn out to be as good as anyone in the league at the point and center and otherwise have solid pieces. Our depth could be solid inside. These are the keys to a decent team. So I won’t be surprised if we finish better than expected

If OU gets 5th or 6th they will be a tourney team.

I love how everyone assumes losing #1 pick Cade Cunningham means OSU won’t have any drop off.

If this team doesn't make the NCAA Tournament, it'll be a massive failure.

I honestly believe that. This isn't some young team, or untalented team. It's a team that is new to each other, and playing for a new coach, but it's experienced and it's talented.

Who haven't you seen play?

There is plenty of college basketball tape on everybody that projects to be a contributor.

The talent is there. Maybe not to win the conference, but I'll be pretty upset if this isn't a solid team that makes the NCAA Tournament.

I agree. After Moser got hired and brought in who he brought in, combined with who OU returned... I agree making the NCAA tournament was the least of my worries. Not saying there won't be growing pains in his first year and getting the guys to play together, but I expect the team to get better as the season goes along. To win games with defense and toughness. And yes, to have some great offensive games. Sure, the team doesn't have any real superstars, but there is some talent there. As a matter of fact, Moser probably has to pinch himself when he goes home at night thinking about the caliber of player physical talent-wise he has here compared to Loyola. Of course the jury is still out on how well they will mesh, how mentally tough they are, etc... but i'm excited to see how it plays out.

Could be although I'm not sure the Big 12 is as good as it was last year or the past couple years.

KU/Texas - top 5
BU - top 10
OU/OSU/TTU - top 40
KSU/WVU/TCU - dark horse teams to make NCAA
ISU - not good

Still possibly the best conference in college basketball.
