I think Honore will be a guy that can help us this year. He has dropped weight in order to get back on the team. I hope he is ready to throw that big body around in the paint and grab some rebounds.

We know he can shoot it but can he bang down low? Same question can be asked of Thompson.

It's hard when you have a walkon like that who can contribute. If he's ranking more minutes than Ahmed or Hardrick it's not really fair t Honore. I think he has the potential of doing that. So if he's a contributor as a Sophomore, which he could be, what do you do about him as a junior and senior? Especially if he's netting more minutes than some guys on the roster.

I think you give him a scholarship if he contributes more than Hardrick which I think he will.

Unleash the Big Puma!

I know. That's how I feel as well. But then you're taking off the table of recruiting anyone in 2011 if OU were to have some attrition. The good thing is OU has the equivalent to a 5* recruit in Osby coming in, but if you did want to use the Hardrick scholarship, you couldn't do it if Big Puma is averaging 10-15 minutes.

I think we are getting ahead of ourselves. I want to see him log actual game minutes first.

I think BT is really doing a comparitive analysis. I as well believe he's better than Hardrick, more experienced than Ahmed, and a better rebounder than Thompson, based on film that I've saw. They're not letting him back on the team because they think he'll ride the pine.

So he is back on the team? It just seems like this happened about 3 times last year

Since he is back, and he does see some good minutes this year, which could happen, I bet he will have a scholy the next year.

From the blog
HONORÉ ADDED TO ROSTER
Jeff Capel has announced that Barry Honoré has rejoined the team as a walk-on. The former Southwestern Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year at Southern University was on the 2009-10 OU roster for the fall semester. A junior, Honoré did not play last year due to NCAA transfer rules.

After looking at Sam's pics, me thinks that the Big Puma needs to drop a few more before the season starts. Hope he is up for the challenge. We need the Big Puma to be lean and mean!

I just love how the nickname Big Puma was created and i had a part in it...

Final credit goes to BIGTIME!

I am skeptical that he will contribute, but who knows. He has made an impact in college basketball at one point already. There is a chance and we will be looking for someone to step up and be ready to bang down low. If Puma's the guy then that would be a nice story.

I think this is the most love a walk on has ever gotten from the fans in the pre-season

We usually don't have a walk on who has the second most experience of anybody on the team at the division one level

No offense but IMHO this guy will be nothing but a memory once the season ends. All this angst about giving him a scholly will be a moot point.

Assuming we do end up only having one available scholly next season, I don't see it going to big puma, even if he plays well. Capel is going to bring in the best recruit he can with that scholly.
