I am virtually blind from watching high school basketball over the last couple of weeks. Here is my take: We may have made a mistake in not recruiting Fields (6'9 kid), and we probably should recruit Neal unless better options are out there and we should recruit Raney.

I am waffling a little on Neal, just because we should be able to find a more athletic big. But Raney is the real deal and can play for OU. Unless he is a head case or lazy, I think we will make a big mistake not recruiting him. He is going to be good for someone.

Otherwise, I saw some good players but not sure they are high D-1 kids. Some have wondered about the Memorial kid, Downing, in my opinion he is a solid big but not OU good. I have the same opinion of the Faulk kid from Muskogee. But all in all, what do I know.

Downing put up 31 in the State Tournament. He's bound for Buffalo. Faulk is not very good in my opinion, however, his father thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Downey is not a High major simply because he is not athletic enough.

To me OU taking Tyler Neal is akin to KU taking Brady Morningstar. He has a lot of tools and skills, needs some time to mature and improve athleticism, will be loyal to the program and a hard worker. You can redshirt him his first year and let him grow into it.

If you have 5 scholly's to give he's a good pickup.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing when I woke up today. I remember watchig him against PCO two years ago thinking wow, this kid is 6'8 or 6'9 and sophomore, he's going to be a stud. He actually had a decent game against PCO, but the athleticism then was blaringly behind the curve. , Now that being said, he'll be more productive than Hardrick. My fear is he'll be a Caleb Green type guy, the player that was at ORU, who ended up blossoming once he got to ORU and was the best player in the state his Senior year in college.

Downing is nowhere near the same type of athlete that Caleb is.

never said he was, but you often see guys late bloom and becomg very good players. Jerry Robinson and Edmond when I was growing up was just an average player in High School and went to either Central Michigan or Eastern Michigan and became a flat out stud. Quite a few kids who never looked to be great players around Oklahoma went on to be real good players at alot of mid majors.
