Bob Huggins in trouble again

I hope he’s smart about this. He’s one of my top 5 favorite college coaches & he’s destroying his legacy.

I think it’s highly likely his attorney convinced him not to leave a ton of money on the table by making his departure easy for WVU. And, in truth, that school owes him more than a wave goodbye as he walks out the door.

Huggie’s legacy can’t get much worse than it is now. Maybe taking this to court will give him a chance to prove he has a disease (alcoholism) that caused him to behave poorly.

He needs help! A little sympathy wouldn’t hurt either. I’m betting he’ll get that by fighting for what he deserves.

How does he deserve to get paid if he did something that is a fire-able offense according to his contract?

That is the definition of NOT deserving it (pay).

Your opinion, and mine, will mean nothing in a court of law. A judge or a jury will make that decision.

My point is simply that Huggins has a good chance to get a lot more money than he did by throwing up his hands and surrendering. I was surprised he didn’t do that from the start. It will be difficult in that part of the country to find a jury that is not on his side. If his attorney plays up the debilitating disease of alcoholism, I think he’ll win easily. Not saying it’s right, just telling you what I think.

If he really didn't resign then this should go through the legal stuff. I bet we see some sort of payment for him to go eventually.

Agreed. By “getting what he deserves,” I meant some form of a severance pay.

Right or wrong, Huggins was a good coach who was well liked by WVU fans. If the lawsuit is decided by a jury, he will win it. As it stands now, he gets nothing. His attorney should be disbarred if he allowed that to happen!

If he was in a position to be fired for cause (and I would think he was, though I'm no legal eagle), there should be no money coming to him, no matter how fond of him the WVU fans are.

Huggins surely has plenty in the bank and if I were in his inner circle, I'd encourage him to focus on getting his life in order. His priorities at this stage seem to be askew.

If this case goes to a jury, any attorney for the university will make sure no Bob Huggins fans end up on the jury. Given the fact it’s his second DUI, came weeks after he embarrassed himself and the university and was essentially placed on probation, it’s far from a lock he would win if he claims they lacked cause to terminate. It doesn’t matter at all if he was a good coach or terrible coach, loved or hated. The school may settle to save the time and expense, but this isn’t a slam dunk case. Giving Marshall a sweet deal when they fired him is one of the reasons that AD eventually lost his job.

Doubt it gets to a jury think this will get resolved on summary judgment. I bet he gets paid more to go away and he never files a case imo

Crazy story that he is claiming to not have resigned. He even met with his team. Several of the guys are in the portal again. I'm sure Ada is correct in that his attorney figures he can get a little bit of money this way.
Interesting tidbit he actually has a bar in his office at the basketball facilities. Seems to have been a mistake!

Wow! Seems clear that Huggins did nothing to set a good example for the young men he coached, on or off campus.

I apologize if I appeared to condone his behavior! That is definitely not my position!

I just realized that if he wanted to try this approach, he should have just tried the George Costanza method: just show up at work and pretend like nothing happened.

Or be like Kramer and when he is fired say "I don't even work here"!:ez-roll:
