WVU fans love this guy! In their eyes Huggie Bear can do no wrong. He apologized, and it’s highly unlikely anything more will be necessary to satisfy the Mountaineer fan base. If the Pope gets involved and this develops into a bigger deal, WVU may have to suspend him for a game or two. Huggie reloaded in the portal. Firing him will not be a consideration!

If it were an OU coach, I'd want him gone. And I trust he would be.

Lots of folks said that about Chris Beard, too. I think he will face some very severe consequences, whether it is termination or a lengthy suspension.

this is not remotely the same level of transgression

I don’t think WVU will do much more than a few games suspension.

It's true he didn't commit violence, but his words could easily serve to inflame and encourage those who might be inclined to do so.

If he had used the N word rather than the F word, would there be any question of him being punished, if not fired outright? No, and rightfully so. There should not be any question in this instance, either.

Agreed. I think he's gone or forced into an early retirement.

Isn’t he Catholic? I saw him once at a coach’s convention in Vegas…him ad his wife at the pool… looked like a Italian mafia type with his wife … lol. I’d think he was for sure Catholic.

Lol… I’m Catholic and I couldn’t care less what he says… I’ve heard worse.

That’s what I think, too! The thoughts I expressed in my initial post were what I expected WVU fans would do, not what I think personally. I grew up in that state. I know those people well. They’re loyal to a fault!

WVU may be forced to “punish” Huggy to save face. But with the quick, public apology he made, I doubt if it will be severe. I listened to the broadcast. He was trying to be funny, and it didn’t turn out well. Hopefully, he’ll learn from the experience!

I don't really care for people getting fired over using dumb words. I wouldn't have him do anything or at most miss one game

lol his words will do nothing to incite violence. surely you don't really thing this.

He won't be gone. He probably would be gone if he said the N word. And maybe be gone if he just said the homosexual slur. But since it was directed at Christians, he won't be gone

Fairly recently if you labeled a person as being "queer" a certain element of society would require you be detained and incarcerated for such behavior. A small fast forward later and the same group wants you to be incarcerated for not using the word "queer.". Go figure.

i think this thread has run its course ...

everyone did a good job of not crossing any lines .. and i am going to close it so it stays that way ..

nothing else really to talk about until something new comes down from WVU ..
