Boca's right, it's all coming together.

Capel's got something up his sleeves, and it ain't playing cards.

Given everything what they wanted this off season and still pissed ? I mean I dont know how serious that remark was but I have to assume its tongue in cheek.

Nobody wanted TMG to leave, they wanted him to be a better team player and learn to play defense. While there are serious differences of opinion on WW in the end with a talent like that it will be harder to say that losing him will make you better (assuming his attitude changes for the better). The rest of the bunch who knows but losing kids like Willis continually hurts your program, it doesnt improve it (especially once you start getting into graduation rates and losing scholarships as a result).

I also dont remember anyone wanting OU to be on TMZ and the tabloids regarding NCAA investigations and possible sanctions for players taking money. Nor having a coach being let go because he most likely is in the middle of the crap. If people suddenly act like its coming together its because 1- maybe its not going to end up as bad as it looked 2- we re gullible enough as hardcore, bleeding crimson and cream fans, to eventually always hope for the best cause thats just who we are.

I'm alluding to the course of the season when MANY on here wanted WWIII and TMG gone...hell, they wanted half the team benched and for OU to go after JUCO players or new HS recruits. It would not be possible to have viewed the board during the course of the season and not acknowledge that many on here were saying that kind of thing. There were many people that were frustrated with the way the season went, many said [INSERT PLAYER] needed to be gone or that Capel needed to start recruiting different kinds of kids. Seems like that is what is happening...with Cam and TJ being a heck of a start.

Regarding TMZ and Coach O, at this point there is nothing concrete, so maybe I'm not ready to beat the hell out of a guy on a message boards with hardly any facts at my disposal. Not ripping you or anyone else, but the Coach O, TMZ thing could be completely unrelated. The fact is that Tiny is still at school, apparently hanging out with recruits etc., if there was enough to implicate Coach O, then certainly Tiny would be gone as well, right? Maybe Coach Capel and Coach O had a falling out, or maybe Coach O really did want to move in a different direction? I don't know and to date nobody else on here does either.

That to me says more about the people on here than Jeff Capel...people had him at Clemson, Wake Forest or interviewing who knows where and we'd just "lost" two JUCO recruits (maybe?). What amazes me is that on some level, Capel has given everyone what they wanted over the course of the off-season and they are still pissed:

1. Ray Willis = Gone;

2. Orlando Allen = Gone;

3. Willie Warren = Gone;

4. TMG = Gone;

5. Coach O = Gone;

6. JUCO's = has brought in Aziz and Thompson, has visits pending with several others; and

7. HS Kids = Still in on Ross, Jones, Majok and who knows who else.

Not sure what else the guy is supposed to be doing right now? But several of the more vocal fans on here should be extremely happy with what Capel has done to this point. Can't undo a crap season, but can take positive steps going forward...steps that many on here were advocating happen since the moment the season went to crap.

Personally, I would like something to be said about the state of the program so as to squelch some of the speculation; however, if Jeff has been told to get out, recruit hard and not respond to the media, then who am I to question Boren or Castiglione [the guys that would be making that decision].

I still think Capel has a shot at being an excellent basketball coach at the University of Oklahoma, and unless/until some of these rumors are proven to be reality (specifically, the "payment" to Gallon), I'd like to see fans as loyal to their coach as they expect their coach to be to the program when [INSERT SCHOOL] comes asking for an interview after a good season.

Well said, B.

apologies...you must not have been on the message board Friday night when all the rumors were swirling that had very little to do with him finding another job. These were all posted by respectable posters and not just some willy-nilly rumor monger.

Maybe those people aren't as connected as you or others think? Not a rip or a rag on them or you [hell, looks like I'm going to pay you the easiest $100.00 you'll ever make], but a guy hosting a recruit doesn't sound like a guy that is about to get canned. I think a bunch of people have been playing connect the dots on things, and making the worst possible connections that they can [including the media]. That is why I still think that it is a good idea for someone with the University to come out and say something, all of this negative press isn't doing the MBB program any good.

I think the fact the University isn't releasing Coach O's cell phone records is a pretty good sign he was involved. I would also guess the fact Capel didn't make a statement in the press release and the hurried nature in which the resigning notification occured are also pretty good signs.

All that stuff regarding new players is common when a team plays as badly as we did throughout the year. I doubt however that anybody really wanted TMG gone, one of the first things people said in regards to him and Tiny is that they were in fact just freshman and would improve. As true freshman they showed a ton of promise, even the ones who hated their style of play or attitude could see that.

Regarding the investigation and TMZ I dont care how the investigation ends up, the fact that we are even in the midst of dealing with this nonsense means that things did not come together after the season. Even if OU is found clean of all charges, Coach O had just a falling out, and Tiny didnt take any money it still is a black eye for the university . Im sure you realize this but OU doesnt have the best of reputations when it comes to NCAA violations and any hint of it is terrible for the university.

I, like many here I am sure, find threads such as "its all coming together now" or "Capel is doing his job fixing the problems" as ridiculous as all the "who are the new coach" ones before Capel was even let go. I bleed crimson and want our teams to win and win the right way and hope the best for everyone who dons anything with OU on it. At the same time this program has become a soap opera and it annoys me that just because the worst of what may have happened may not doesnt mean everyone should get their pom poms out again celebrating how great a job our coach did or how great a shape our program is in.

Or it could have to do with the phone related minor violations that OU self reported. Fact is that we have no idea why Coach O left. It could be that OU is extra sensitive to phone violations and asked hi to leave and OU wants to review who he was calling too much before they release the phone records. Or he could have conspired with a Financial Advisor in Florida and Tiny and his move to have $3000 wired to Tiny's bank account. I'll let you decide which is more plausible.

Lets look at Jeff Capel's freshmen recruits since he's come here, that's where he's tried to build his program he hasn't really recruited the JUCO market that much or that well honestly. So lets look at what the freshmen have done in their careers since he's been here.

Bobby Maze-Left after 1 year, ended up with a Elite 8 team in Tennessee
Tony Neismith - left after 1 year
Chris Early - kicked off before he had a chance to play
Cade Davis-Is still here and has been a good role player his career
Blake Griffin star left after 2 years, but was a star and the top player in the draft.
Willie Warren - left after 2 years and had a disappointing 2nd year
Ray Willis - left after 2 years
TMG - left after 1 year
Gallon - may not make it to year two also
Fitzgerald and Pledger look good for next year though.

Notice a pattern? I'm sorry if you want to base your recruiting off of getting mostly freshmen players it is necessary to have those freshmen stay at least a couple years so you can build a program. We were lucky to have Tony Crocker(a Kelvin recruit), Austin Johnson(A Kelvin recruit), and Taylor Griffin(another Kelvin recruit) here to stay 3 years and have leadership to make that team a really good team like it was. We were also lucky to have guys like Nate Carter, Longar Longar, and Michael Neal against all Kelvin players. Notice how the top players Jeff's first year are all Kelvin guys except for Blake who is the brother of one of the guys on the team.

Yes we had an all world player and one of the best to ever play at OU. But that's not why OU was so good last year. Oklahoma was a defensive team in 08-09 and that's what made the difference between that year and last year we had a horrible defensive unit because only about 2 or 3 of the top players had ever been on a team that knew how to play defense. Put Blake on this years team and we still suck. He's getting 20 points a game or something like that but we still suck.

But the guy that supposedly took the money is still hanging out with recruits, presumably is still with the team and coming back next season? Oh and as far as cell phone records, I'm thinking if Coach O was skirting the rules, it was through a "Go" phone and not a university phone.

Here is what I know. The so called people "close to the program" around here don't have a clue about what's going on. The writers for the newspapers in Oklahoma don;t have a clue what's going on.

The people who are all worked up are weak fans who aggies have been able to sway with their nonsense about Blake carrying Capel, etc.

Capel took over a complete bag of garbage and had OU in the elite 8 in a couple years. We are in way better shape than when he took over. A guy like Terrence Ross would not have considered visiting OU 4 years ago. Any NBA caliber player stayed away from OU because it was not a place when talent was enhanced. The total opposite is true now.

The recent slid was the last effects of the probation. I laugh at OU fans so weak they are influenced by trolls like Cheno or aggies who are loving this small blip.

lol @ OSU being in better shape than OU, because they have 4 3 star unranked players coming in to join a team that woin nothing? ha ha ha

13-18 this year, 2 players arrested another took money and an assitant coach was fired. Worst season since 80-81, half the roster was jetted I call that a train wreck. The chemistry was horrid, never seen anything like it at OU. Sorry can't say more take our word for it. Capel is very lucky at this point.

Worst season since 80-81, half the roster was jetted HOW MANY, NOT HALF I call that a train wreck. The chemistry was horrid, never seen anything like it at OU BLAKE YEARS IN FOOTBALL _ SWITZER LAST YEARS. Sorry can't say more take our word for it NOT ON YOUR LIFE. Capel is very lucky at this point.

Spin much?

Trolls like Cheno? :ez-roll:
Dude you're the troll....trolling for anything about me.
I've been as big a Capel supporter as this board has seen.
I don't influence any negativity towards Capel.
The mere fact you bring me up in a topic that has nothing to do with me or isn't even related to me speaks volumes to what kind of trolling you do.
What a joke.

I mostly agree, but I see two factual errors. No players were arrested, they were cited for attempted shoplifting. No need to make things sound worse than they are. They are bad enough. And there is no proof Tiny took money. It is just speculation and circumstantial evidence at this point (it may prove true in the future). There is enough of a train wreck without embellishing.

PS You forgot to mention that OU is losing out on juco recruits to Gonzaga and South Florida.

Money was put into Gallon's account. And he's probably spent at least some of it. That's taking money.

I apologise I guess I missed the part where TMZ produced proof of a wire transfer.

Boca your drivel is getting old!

There are several posters around here that are close to the program. Anything I post on this board you can bet on it and I have enough posters on here that will back me up on this. I am also a moderator so I'm careful as to what I post which is another reason if I post something you can count on it. There are some things right now that I'm unsure of which is why I haven't posted everything but you can bet I have a clue of what's going on with the program there pee wee! I will agree the writers don't have much of a clue, some do but most don't.

I laugh at you because you feel the need to degrade OU fans simply because of forming an opinion that doesn't agree with yours and then passing it off on Cheno, who despite being a KU fan, is a good poster and offers a lot to the board.

I remember a post of yours that said something to the effect "Bye guys, see you next year". Please honor that post.

The vast improvement made by Longar, AJ and TG under Capel tell you a lot about his coaching ability. Not to mention Blake's jump from freshman to sophmore season.

That is correct. Blake, Taylor and LL both credit Capel for their improvement.
