Illinois 17-15 this year. There should be a strong group of coaches who want that job...

Amazing what happens when you run out of other guys players.

I never understand wht Ill isn't always good. They're like MU. If they just recruit their area(MU KC and St' Louis), let alone everywhere else, they should be a good team. I was surprised he was there this long.

When he lost Gordon to IU (and Kelvin) his program started to falter a bit. He was rolling pretty good up to that point and if Gordon goes to Illinois and stays a few years you never know.

Gordon was never staying a few years anywhere, he was NBA bound regardless.

He stayed one year at IU and probably should have stayed 2. I thought at the time if KS wasn't fired, Gordon stays one more year at IU.

What's also scary is, wasn't Weber's name floated for a time, for OU's job?

Yes, but I wonder if someone misinterpreted our chasing of Kruger for going after Weber.

Since Kruger is an ex-Illinois coach as I think we were on Kruger the entire time.

Funny how you don't hear that name so much this year. Last year we were getting flogged by it.

Until the conference tournaments end, most of the jobs are still occupied, hence the subdued hype. Shaka has been a hot name since the middle of January as VCU was picking up steam, will only continue now that he has the Rams back in the tournament. He signed an extension last year, but it is going to be tough to keep him in Richmond.

Smart's squad is brilliantly conceived, lost 4 out of the 5 pieces from last year's run and had them finish second in CAA behind Drexel (who they only played once, @ Drexel). VCU's HAVOC defense is top ten in the nation in turnovers forced, if you saw the first half of the CAA championship game, nobody wants to face those guys in the first round. He has a set system and recruits to that system, doesn't deviate and knows his limitations. Not sure how that style will fit in the Big Ten, but the Illini donors don't care, they are ready to pony up.
