Buddy buckets

We are going to need a lot of them next year. I bet Buddy is up for the challenge...

I have no idea what to expect out of Buddy next year. He really seemed to hit a wall when the competition picked up, and that was as our 2nd scoring guard. What next year when he probably gets the most attention?

I'm pretty sure we will all like what we get out of Buddy when he is a junior/senior. As a sophomore though? I'm just not sure.

I'm pretty sure we will all like what we get out of Buddy when he is a junior/senior. As a sophomore though? I'm just not sure.

It will be interesting to see not only how Hield looks but the other two guards as well given they will have no one to fall back on. This can change how players approach workouts, practices and games. When coaches are now designing things for you it can make a world of difference mentally for a player. It's the same thing when a guy goes from being a sub to a starter. Some guys handle it well and explode and some play their way back to the bench.

From all accounts those 3 were used to carrying a load or at least having a signifant hand in the outcome of the game for their HS teams and then to come in and play in the back seat can take time to adjust to. I don't see any reason for the 3 of them to take a step forward and lead this team next year even as sophomores. The good thing is they have each other to rely on and it doesn't have to be any one of them all the time.

I expect bumps in the road but am for one glad that Kruger stuck with the 3 of them most of the year (while also teaching lessons at times) during tough stretches to get them that experience to learn what it's like to lead the team because ready or not that's where they find themselves next year.....

These returning Sooner players totaled about 22 points per game in Big-12 games. We will need more buckets from them all.

These four players totaled about 80 minutes per game. They will have to play more next year, and score more next year. These are the experienced players on the team.

Buddy's scoring went down almost the minute he began starting. But so did his turnovers, and his assists and rebounds went up. So, he helped in other ways. He will need to focus more on scoring though, and I don't think it'll be a problem for him. We know he can drain from outside, he did in the exhibitions and the non con schedule. We know he can create his own shot and score in a variety of ways. I think his bricklaying from behind the arc at the end of he season was mostly hopefully mental.
