Fran talked all game about buddy most likely coming back. We would be pretty salty if that's the case.

I dearly hope Fran's correct in his assumption.

I'm hoping Fran has some inside information to make him believe that's a good possibility. Nothing would make me happier.

I think that's the best decision for him. I just don't see him getting drafted right now, he'd be a smaller 2 guard and his ball handling still needs work. If he does decide that he's ready to go pro (even if it's overseas) than I'll still be rooting for him. Buddy's been a great Sooner, whatever choice he makes at the end of the year won't change that.

He's been acting like it's his last hurrah. I hope Fran's right, but I won't hold my breath.

Yeah he seemed really confident to the fact he knew something. Maybe I'm just being hopeful

He's likely to be the big 12 POY. I don't see how coming back will do anything to raise his draft status. Even if he doesn't make it in the NBA he is going to make good money over seas.

I personally don't understand the leaving early for guys like him unless he grades out as a first round with a guarenteed contract. The percentage of second round guys that stick in the NBA is probably very small. Buddy is a great college player but when put agaist NBA players I don't think he will stand out enough to make it. So why not finish your degree the play over seas? Unless a family member is in dire medical straights and he has to help now one year won't make any difference. He needs to realize that is is a job and a lot of things will change. Willie Warren alluded to that in his interview. He needs to realize that he will not play forever and needs the degree so get it done now so you are not trying to do it later. I guess we will see what happens.

Depends on if staying is going to make him more NBA ready. If not, then why not take your chance and play overseas if the nba isn't an option. Staying takes away one year of income that you can never get back. Also, the degree can come any time. Most likely, whether he plays in the nba or not, the most money he will ever make will come from playing ball and not the degree.

What makes you say that.

Mostly his mom. She's been with him like it's his senior year. I watched him specifically in the post game. He was running around thanking the crowd on all four sides making a heart sign. Emotional. Obviously, I'm reading tea leaves here, but it's the sense I get.

It's real simple. If his draft grades show that he is likely to be an NBA 1st round pick giving him guaranteed money and a 3-year contract then he will skip his senior year. If he's a 2nd rounder or below, then he probably stays. Kruger has indicated he will check after the season is over so I doubt if Buddy has decided yet.

JMHO. Fran was guessing based on bits and pieces he has heard from James and the coaches.

Maybe, maybe not. Buddy seems to be a smart guy. To say will make more money playing ball oversea's (are we including endorsement?) I think sells him short a bit on what he can make of himself. Maybe he winds up with Frans job? Could make more doing that given the longevity of the career. And being devils adovocate he does seem like he would finish his degree on way or the other. I wish him the best either way.

I don't think Fran has any inside info. When I had the pleasure of talking with Buddy with some other fans for 10-15 minutes, Buddy didn't seem to be a huge fan of Fran. Said he's a huge KU and Iowa State fan and said "That guy is crazy". Maybe James said something, but honestly I don't think Buddy has decided, and if he had I don't think Fran would know.

NBA minimum salary is $507,336 even if he's a second round pick and only hangs for a year. He's either good enough to play at that level or he's not. If not he plays internationally. Coming back does nothing for his career. The most important thing for his career is getting on a roll in the next 3 weeks and raising his profile.

I think Buddy is gone now that he won POY.

And if he has a good week this week and we actually win a couple of games in the tourney I imagine the hype around him will grow. It's easy for players to get caught up in the moment and also start listening to the wrong people. But if he goes then so be it. We've had much better players than him leave early.

It is NOT just a matter of "being good enough or not".

It is all about getting the right opportunity and having the skills that match the open spot at the right time and place.

I do think he's gone. But if he's smart he will wait and decide based upon his projection first because being drafted in the second round is a killer to longevity. You're much better off as a free agent than a 2nd round draftee.
