Buddy hield fracture

Now we'll really need Pledger and the 2 freshmen to really step up. This is a brutal loss at a critical time. We are a bit lucky that our schedule is softer, but we don't have a huge margin for error.

If OU doesn't make the tournament because of this injury, that is exactly what I would call it.

I know it is bad, but that would mean that we will be losing to teams like TCU, TTU & WVU... I don't see that happening. And if we cannot beat those teams without Hield, then we are not a tournament team anyways! I am not saying they are a guaranteed win, but let's be honest, even without Hield, we are more talented than each of those teams. We all just need to relax and realize that this is a part of the game. Our guys will step up and I think this is only going to make us better, come tournament time!

Who get's his starting spot?

Cam if we try to replace the defense/rebounding.

Hornbeak if we try to replace the offense.

Not sure which direction I'd go, honestly. I'd probably start Hornbeak, and see if having him and Pledger out there together opens things up on offense a bit. Our bench is a bit more balanced if we start Cam though. That is why LK gets paid the big bucks.

It's going to be REALLY tough to pin point losing games on not having Hield. We've lost some winnable games with him.

I think that it would be best to go with Cousins,Pledger,Cam,M'Baye, and Osby. If Kruger does something different than that, then, he is right and I am wrong.

Out RPI is #19 folks. Take a chill pill. We are a lock for the dance.

Only if we win more maybe 4 or more games. If we win 2 or 3 games the rest of the year we aren't a lock for the dance.

Also if we dont win anymore games this year, we wont be dancing.... SMH... :facepalm:facepalm:facepalm

Well of course, because it is a team game, but he is arguably the team's best defender, a royal pain in the rear to the other team's guards, and Kruger has run plays for him in late game situations.

It is a big loss but I believe that this team pull through it. Hield is a leader and he can still lead from the bench. I wish him a speedy recovery.

I think we just need to go 4-3 without him.
Just win 3 of TT, TCU, UT, WVU.
And 1 of OSU, WVU, ISU.

I think we can still do that, and probably more without Hield.
It's just going to be tougher.

I think ISU is as close to a must win as there is: at worst we will split with Baylor and OSU. ISU could finish with the same league record and better overall record. If we lose to them twice, then we're the second bubble team in the Big 12, which is not a great spot this year.

Agree. The Sooners must win the remaining home games, and that includes Iowa State. I think the Sooners get in if they "hold serve" at home. None of the three will be easy .. Baylor, ISU and WVU.

Buddy's absence makes it more difficult, but it is doable. Thank goodness Coach Kruger has some depth, and has given the minutes to the freshmen guards all season long. Now it is payoff time for that strategy.
