Buddy shooting in NRG (video)

Let's get a few more balls and a couple more retrievers out there. Buddy needs to put up plenty of shots!

Depth perception can be a problem. This is where muscle memory will benefit Buddy. All those hours shooting will really help

Don't disagree that depth perception issues can be problematic. I just don't agree with the narrative that some here are pushing that it has to be a bigger problem for OU than any of the other FF teams.

A lot of times Buddy isn't even looking at the basket before he goes up to shoot. He'll probably be fine here - other guys who are more rhythm shooters may have some issues.

Buddy could hit 40% of his shots if the lights were completely turned out!!!!

You're right on the money scrybe. If the depth perception affects OU' shooters it will have an equal affect on the other teams as well. Buddy has shown his ability to drive to the rim or shoot the fall away jumper. If OU has a bad shooting night I predict it will have more to do with the opponent's defense than the venue.

Theoretically, it would have the same effect on every team, however, a team like UNC, that has a strong inside game and doesn't shoot the three as much, it shouldn't affect their overall offense as much

I assume the 3 is the highest percentage of our offense than any of the four teams, but we shoot it so well maybe, it won't be an issue.

There are some comments in this thread that reference both depth perception and muscle memory. The talking heads continue to pump the depth perception issue, but after watching the Houck video of Buddy, I think the muscle memory bit is spot on. I'm no shooting guru, but it seems to me that Buddy isn't aiming AT the rim; he's shooting FROM a spot. And that distance is the same, regardless of the backdrop (or lack thereof).

Long-winded way of saying the Houck video made me :dance005:

I'm sure that has some merit, but UNC has often looked pedestrian in games where the Heels shot poorly from outside. They can be dominant inside, so if they go off from distance, they will probably be hard to beat.
