Buddy

I'm starting to think he won't be around for four years.

Bite your tongue when you say things like that. ;)

I agree, Buddy is on his way to proving he can play in the league someday. He already has a NBA two guard body. If he continues to improve and shoot lights out from three (his current average is better than 55%), NBA scouts will be in attendance at OU's games before long.

Buddy Love can score in a lot of ways. He's also a good defender with ultra-quick hands and outstanding footwork. He definitely has the size and the potential to play at the next level.

Easy fellas. Coach is right, you guys are setting him up to possibly dissapoint some people. I love Buddy and his game, but he is pretty raw in a lot of areas to even think about the league. MAYBE after his junior year if he keeps improving.

I'm not going to spend one minute worrying about Hield leaving early. If it does happen, and I think that is very unlikely, it means he did some pretty special things while in an OU jersey.

ehhhhhh... remember TMG, Willie, M'Baye? haha

I agree though, I think Buddy has a good enough head on his shoulders that the only thing that would entice him to leave early is if he has a big enough season that NBA first round is calling

If Wesley Matthews can start and contribute on an NBA roster at the 2, I feel Buddy can too. He probably doesn't have the same stroke as Matthews (yet), but he's at least as athletic (if not more), probably plays with more energy, and likely will be a better defender. Matthews played 4-years for Marquette, though, before turning pro, so hopefully Buddy will here, as well.

Kawhi Leonard is another 2-guard that I see with a similar game as Buddy, although a couple of inches taller, but he seems to be a high-energy guy who plays tough defense. Hope when Buddy does go pro, he falls into a situation similar to what Leonard did in SA. Kawhi, on the other hand, did come out after his Soph season.

kawhi leonard does not play the 2 (6'7 230). . and his and buddys games are not close to each others

OK...I stand corrected, Leonard much bigger than I thought (I would have said 6'6" 220). Danny Green then!!

I see Buddy as a D.Wade type player. Maybe not as natural a scorer as Wade at this point of their careers, but Wade was a four year player wasn't he? Buddy is an all conference player in my book this year, If he stays hungry!!!

Dwayne Wade was at Marquette for 2 years. Carmello Anthony was at Syracuse for 1 year. And LeBron James went straight to the NBA. All were in the 2003 NBA Draft.

several were in attendance last night.

i wanted to believe they were there to scout williams or coleman from UNT, but hield will get noticed no matter who they are there to see.

i remember seeing him at the lakers game last year, and he looked like a kid on christmas eve getting to see kobe. he's going to do everything he can to make it in the nba, but i doubt he'll ever be projected as a lottery pick at any point. so if a kid from the bahamas with a legit nba dream is told he could go mid to late first round after his junior season, then i wish nothing but the best for that young man. wild speculation of course, and i hope i'm wrong!

Guys come on... You are setting yourself up to be let down... Wade, Matthews, Leonard... Lets enough a TRUE SOPH basketball player.
I've been a huge Buddy fan since seeing him in HS. Calm down a little.

Coleman for UNT averaged 1 point and 2 rebounds last year. I doubt they were there to see him.

Buddy is the type of player that when you see someone making a great move or get a tough rebound you don't have to look at the number. It is Buddy. Even with his low scoring last year it was the same thing.

D Wade left after his junior year.

NBA guards most comparable to Buddy's game in terms of size and how they play:

1. Dwyane Wade (6'4 220lbs.)
2. Tyreke Evans (6'6 220lbs.)
3. Eric Gordon (6'4 215lbs.)
4. Eric Bledsoe (6'1 195lbs.)
5. James Harden (6'5 220lbs.)

I don't see Buddy as Harden as Buddy actually plays defense.

Very true. Buddy is better defensively, and doesn't know how to flop either.

While it's obviously premature to be projecting Buddy Hield to the NBA, I'm going to play along since we're in need of a 2-guard to complete the two-deep rotation for an All-NBA team.

1st Team:

C - Alvin Adams
PF - Blake Griffin
SF - Gar Heard
SG - Buddy Hield ???
PG - Mookie Blaylock

2nd Team:

C - Clifford Ray
PF - Wayman Tisdale
SF - Harvey Grant
SG - Anthony Bowie
PG - Brent Price
