He looks like he's playing more inside after two games. I saw some vines of him drilling 3s and other midrange jumpers in practice. But so far it doesn't appear he's looking for anything outside. Also, I wonder if Cole is really going to get as many minutes as he did last night..

Been a little disappointed in Buford so far. Not giving up on him or anything, but he needs to be a difference maker by the end of the year.

RS frosh difference maker? you're going to be disappointed all year.

We will go as far as our seniors take us. All others are role guys. Sure they will have great games and below average games.

I expected more, too, but I think he may be struggling to understand his role in our offense.

Dante is a great athlete with skills, so I fully expect to see his immense talent take over as he continues to adjust to the speed and physicality of the college game.

I think that's true and no one is arguing otherwise, but the role players decide the "extra" wins. Like Booker hitting that crazy fadeaway 3 in March.

The role players do have to be difference makers for this team to have a shot at a natty vs. Having a good season

Ok well then I agree. when i think difference maker I think one the top 2-3 players on the team. Buddy and Isiah are difference makers.

Gonna take more than that to get to the FF. We had them both and Thomas last year, and didn't make it. Somebody else has to step up. They don't have to score 17 a game, but they have to be a threat. Doesn't have to be Buford either, but he makes the most sense, and is the highest ranked recruit on the roster (I believe). A lot of folks thought he might start from day 1.

Lattin isn't going to score a bunch. McNeace isn't. We know what we have in Spangler. So that leaves Buford and the freshman guards.

This!!

I think Buford looked more at home last night. Much too early to tell but for sure he is big and physical which can't hurt.

I doubt that we have seen much of his offensive potential.

Later in the year when Buford gets his legs under him I'd love to see Cousins, Buddy, Buford,
Spangler and McNease on the floor together.

I have only seen him play at the scrimmage and in the two exhibition games. he looks like a really good athlete and good player that hasn't played in any games for two years to me. Oh, yeah, he hasn't played for two years.

We will know more about what he brings to the team by conference. He just needs to keep getting his feet wet and get his confidence back.

Looks like he is going to be really good to me.

My thought is that Buford, Odomes, James, Walker and either McNeace or Lattin (depending on who is the starter) need to collectively be a difference maker by collectively posting a good stat line for the bench. If those guys shoot 50% as a group on most nights, play solid defense as a group, have more assists than turn overs as a group and rebound well as a group, OU will be very good. However, if they produce about like last year's bench, OU will not be much better or perhaps any better as last years team.

the nice thing about this team is the fact they can go 5 deep (6 if/when Manyang) is healthy. This allows the bench not to have to rely on just 1 or 2 guys to come off the bench and provide a spark. Kruger can go with the guys playing with the better hand/tempo of the game. It will be a process and undoubtedly will have plenty of roller coaster moments because of the youth and inexperience but the potential is exciting.

I think he is lacking confidence and with some game experience that will improve.
If I were Lon, I would tell him that he will get more time with great defense.

Expectations were really high on Buford as maybe being that missing piece last year... We don't have an athlete like him on this team so I really hope he gets the lid taken off.

Looks hesitant and tentative on both ends. Hopefully that big dunk will get him going. Need him to play like Walker when he is in there!

Buford didn't play his senior year in high school?

I am pretty sure he did play his senior year of high school. He had to sit out last year because a HS credit didn't count. Christian James sat out his senior year of high school because he broke his leg. If I recall correctly, he played in a play off game or two but that was it.

If I remember correctly he dealt with injuries his senior year but did play. Maybe shoulder/ankle... Its been awhile.
