Why such inconsistency? He has had a few stinker games like this already this year. The leading scorer in the Big 12 shouldn't be doing that.

I hope he's not going into his usual swoon where he basically disappears. Last 2 halves don't look good.

It is not as if he is ice cold. He just has not made or taken many opportunities yet.

Poor shot selection, IMO.

I've only seen him take one shot in the paint.

He needs to get to the stripe in the second half.

Some of his shots were contested early in the year, but he was hitting them. Unfortunately, he is no longer making any of those. I think he needs to be more aggressive in driving to the rim. See of he can get on the FT line. Nights like tonight are pretty disappointing considering how excellent he has been for most of the year. Hopefully it is just a blip and Cam can get back on track soon.

You guys are jerks. You are suppose to be OU and Cam Clark fans. Why not some encouragement. He will get down on himself without our help

Cam you are awesome. Everyone has bad games and I positive your best is yet to come!

Geez, like he really reads this stuff.

The kid's had a few off nights. K St D's up pretty good and he maybe forced a few things. He'll be fine. I'd like to see him penetrate and get to the lines a bit more but I thought our spacing was bad at times…especially when Woodard was out. Last 6 minutes was a total CF in every regard…players and coaches.

His friends do. His family might. There is no reason to bash a kid. Our personal disappointment with an OU loss doesn't compare to the disappointment of the guys on the team.

First of all you don't know that unless you're a personal friend or family member yourself…are you?!

your second comment better be 100% correct…cause if i'm more upset than they are we/they got a big problem!

Is that a real post?

Granted, Cam has been an enigma since he stepped on court his freshman season, with all that "McD's All-American snub" potential. Buuuuuut,

Let's continue to appreciate how far he's come on both ends of the floor. Didn't think after two years that we'd see a day where he was hitting over 30% from three. Or defending three positions well. He's obviously a patient guy, 'cause he could have transferred to a mid-major to physically dominate opposing players. Instead, he stuck it out during a coaching change and is a better player for it. I doubt he'll finish conference play as the Big XII's leading scorer (too many feast-or-famine nights), but he could still be 1st Team All-Conference.

I give this kid the benefit of the doubt. After all, he gave our program the same when he was sharing the floor with Nick Thompson and Carl Blair.

Yep. He is a major part in my enjoyment of this year's team for the the very reasons you mention (although not incidentally). He and Sir Tyler Neal are still here and playing very well. I admit I did not expect these two to have the impact they are making. Changes the dynamic.

We have seem glimpses of this from both of them at times. Cam for sure. I am thankful that I can tune in to a Sooner game without the silly idea that I am a masochist. I admit I already imagine this team a year from now with the the recruits coming in combined with another year of Spang, Beak, Woodard, Cousins, Buddy, DJ, Booker, etc. But these guys get out there and compete. It is quite refreshing.

I feel like part of Cam's problem is he keeps trying to draw the foul. Going up, doing really acrobatic stuff, then not being able to finish. I think if he just starts going up and trying to finish, instead of bracing for a foul, he'll get a lot more things around the rim to fall. And when he gets confidence on close shots, that opens up everything else for him.

I think what we're also seeing is that the opposing teams are starting to put in game plans to stop him now that we are in conference play. He'll get used to it and hopefully be back to his old self pretty soon. One thing you'll notice about him is you can tell what kind of a game he's going to have in the first 4 minutes of the game. If he starts off with a few shots made during that time, he's likely to have a good game. If he misses his first couple, he usually doesn't have a good game. I think he might have trouble pulling out of slumps. But hopefully he'll get better. I have faith about it though. Too good of an athlete to not.

K-State is a very good defensive team, and he's having to deal with being "the man" for the first time in his college career. You can bet that he's already a major part of the other team's defensive game plan. After all, he came in as the leading scorer in the Big XII.

Good post. Some of our posters never cease to amaze me – the hand-wringing starts the minute our best player (and the leading scorer in the Big XII Conference) has an off night. Games like last night's have been few and far between for Cam this season, and he's always bounced right back with a monster game. Have faith, brethren.

True. He is not so quick that he is going to beat every good defender all the time. He can still some occasional good looks, especially in transition, and some garbage points. He needs to stay patient and not force it. It does not matter who scores - we have plenty of guys who can shoot it.

Spot on observation!

Cam has always been a streaky shooter. In the past, if he hit his first shot or two you could expect good results. The reverse was true if he missed those shots in the early going.

Things were different this season. Cam's confidence as an experienced senior allowed him to overcome a slow start and find a way to score, whether it was on pull up short range jumpers or by taking the ball to the rim. Nothing seemed to work for him last night. Even his attempts to drive with the ball resulted in a poorly executed shot, a turnover or good defense that prevented him scoring. I kept hoping he would make a couple of shots so he could see the ball go through the net. A made shot can get a player going sometimes. It never happened until late in the game when he finally made a put-back lay up.

No doubt about it, Cam had a bad game. There is nothing wrong with pointing that out, as long as it's done tastefully. He deserves that from all of us. But it's also important to note that even good players can have poor performances.

I have little doubt that Cam will bounce back from last night's game. He has been solid in every way this season. While his shot has been off a time or two (the win over ISU for example), he has found other ways to contribute to our success. Saturday's game against Baylor would be a good time to prove me right.

A trend I am noticing is when we play a team the has traditional centers and power forwards, Cam can use his quickness to get buckets. When we play teams with bigs built like him, like KSU last night and even against ISU, in which he had 12 points but was 4-16 from the fireld, he struggles a little bit. Just an observation i had.
