PG - Newell
SG - Clark
SF - Neal
PF - Fitz

With Goff and Osby coming in that gives us 6 legit Big XII caliber players. We need to add a couple more in this recruiting class. Maybe Pledger can find his shot and become the spot up shooter we expected and maybe TJ Tyler can be a solid backup at the 2 which would give us 8 legit Big XII caliber players.

We are closer to being a good team than people realize.

This.

i don't expect Fitz to start next year ... Goff and Osby IMHO will be the starters next year

I think Osby will start too...but at the wing. Fitz has proven to be a very solid scoreer down low and will only get better.

Next year:

PG - Newell
SG - Clark
SF - Osby
PF - Fitz
C - GOff

I like this lineup..it has size, length and athleticsism. Osby has the ability to drain the 3 and take off the dribble...as long as he can guard the opponents 3, he will be fine there. If not, he will play the 4 most of the time.

That starting line-up with Taylor, Blair, C.J, Neal, etc off the bench..and we could have a very solid team on our hands.

Not with Capel as the coach.

I hope you're right. Regardless, it's tourney or bust next year.

I agree. We are one or two good guards away from being very competitive. If he cant pick them up, he will be in trouble.

I think Fitz will definitely start next year. He has shown very solid post moves and a pretty lethal mid range shot. If he can play the four, his natural position, I think he will be even more productive. Hopefully Goff is a legit 6'9" and can play down low. If not, I would love to see us get Juco center Phillip Jurick (6'11" 275). Either way I think if you start Osby, Goff, and Fitz next year we will have a much bigger team and more athletic.

So we are going to rely on Neal (a true freshman who should be redshirting), Osby (who averaged 4 ppg at MSU), and Goff (who averages 9 ppg in juco) to save the program.

This team is beyond terrible... And, is 6 Big 12 players enough? Won the following schools have more t han 6 players who belong on the floor:

Kansas
Kansas State
Texas
Oklahoma State
Texas A&M
Baylor
Iowa State
Missouri
Baylor
Texas Tech

Thats it, thats the conference schedule. You are supposed to be built to compete in your conference. And if you have 6 guys that are "legit Big 12" players, how can you compete with these guys? Its going to be a ridiculous basketball conference next year.

I'm curious as to what you mean by "legit Big 12 caliber players"?
Sorry but not one of those guys would start on the top 4 or 5 Big 12 teams this year. Not one. This is OU not Nebraska.

I agree with Boca. Next year we could have 7 upperclassmen.

Nick Thompson - Senior
CJ Washington - Senior
Stephen Pledger- Junior
Andrew Fitzgerald - Junior
Romero Osby - Junior
Robert Goff - Junior
Carl Blair - Junior

The year after that we could start 5 seniors. Experience makes a huge difference.

Cheno, agree with your post. Not one of OU's starters would start at ku, mizzou, ksu or baylor.

With that roster and even with a lot of improvement it looks like a 20+ win season next year will be hard to come by unless Osby and Goff really go above expectations.

I know everyone is looking towards next year but IMO Capel and this team needs to show something this year to justify allowing Capel to be given another year to turn this thing around at this point. If this doesn't happen Joe C and Co. need to decide whether or not to just cut their losses otherwise it just proves they're apathetic about the program which is a severe disservice to the university and its fans.

What has Clark done to say he's part of a solid base? I agree we have some other good young players. Pledger has basically done nothing also. He could be another Cade Davis in a couple years, not quite as good though. Neal has shown a few things there and there, Newell has been real good. Fitz is arguably our best player.

Clark is an athlete at least, good midrange & has length. That's a good start!

Listen, here's my take. Cam has had big-time expectations on him, for a freshman who's been at college since the end of August. He's on a young team that can't cover up his weaknesses the way a more skilled veteran team could. He basically has no one to create easy opportunities for him to get his feet on the ground. Good college players make the game easier for their teammates, and we have no good players (love Cade's effort but he's a good role player period)

Should Carolina give up on Harrison Barnes too? Or can we as fans just stop expecting the next Beasley or Durant from every McDonald's AA freshman (or not even with Cam)? Time and experience is everything in basketball. Cade wasn't asked to do as a soph what Pledger was this year. Has Pledger struggled? Yes, but he's shown flashes of real talent, plus he's like 19. I'm not an expert, just an unfrozen cave man lawyer, but I think these two might not have hit their ceiling yet.
