Win or lose against Chaminade, Capel is done after this season. This program is a shell of itself.

I doubt it because there's not enough interest for it to matter.

There is interest in it when we are winning. OU is not going to pay a coach 1.5 million for 8 wins.

Hopefully the money is in place to fire him at the end of the year. No point in having a coach that can't win or recruit.

If Joe C didn't fire Spates a few years back, I doubt he does anything to Capel. On the other hand, these are the likely to be the 2 worst seasons in 30 years ..... and Jeff is in his 5th year so it's his program and recruits.

This really isn't a surprise. Last year's implosion cost us at least 2 years.

Our wins may be in single digits this year.....

The schedule is too easy for it be single digits. Just look at the 5 games we have in Norman that are all wins. And the conference is still week. We can easily beat teams like Tech, Colorado, Iowa State, Nebraska, all games we should win. But this loss was horrible and after a promising start to the tournament we showed no motivation at all.

If I were Capel, I'd be so ashamed and embarrassed about how I recruited and coached this last three years; I’d resign and get the heck out of the state.

something will have to change, attendance will suffer until
Until what? Our football program is all that matters. And we didn't fire Bob Stoops after a 5 loss season which we had similar problems of lack of motivation. If OU goes 0 fer in football next season they won't fire Bob Stoops either.

It takes Spates 12 years to make what Capel does in 1 year. That is why he will be fired.

I agree with this. We shouldnt have to fire him. He should quit. He is doing a pitiful job right now.

Could not agree more! It's embarrassing enough losing to a D-1 school we should beat, let alone a D-2 school. Sadly, they have better athletes than us and the announcers even pointed it out.

Anyone know how to find out the details of Capel's contract? Its gotta be public record.

I would be absolutely stunned if Joe C fires Capel after this season.

Lets see, 3 losing season in 5 years. Possible NCAA infractions. Poor/ declining attendance. I cannot see why he would not fire him.

How is the conference weak? K-State, Kansas, Baylor, Texas, Missouri, OSU and A&M are pretty solid teams. Simply because OU is not strong does not mean the conference is weak.

Im trying to figure out how Nick thinks we will just show up and beat ISU, Nebraska, Colorado and Tech. At best those are toss ups. 2-14 looks pretty likely to me.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but I get the feeling that Castiglione is very much in Capel's corner, and knowing that this year would be a down year it would really surprise me. I really don't know though.

The NCAA stuff could have an effect though. I wonder what is up with that. We haven't heard anything about it in months.
